ShowMax tested

If you have setup your Samsung TV to be on another region to get the Netflix app, does this mean you will not be able to install the ShowMax app. I just can not find it in the smart hub. What am I doing wrong?

Would also like to know.

SHOWMAX.... BETTER THAN NETFLIX!!! [sup]tm[/sup]

Well I would imagine your TV would have to be set to South Africa to pick it up.

Imagine you could pick up ShowMax in the USA. OMG Netflix would be in trouble :D

Well I just tested ShowMax, and I'm not impressed at all...

I have a 47" LG Smart LED TV, on it I already use Netflix and thought, well ShowMax being local would be quite cool, for one thing I wouldn't need the DNS changes used to access Netflix for ShowMax and surely the content would be faster loading and great quality being locally fed...

Wrong.

The quality of Netflix faaaaar outweighs this rubbish. Netflix loads faster, once a video is started I get no buffering at all and the quality goes up to 1080, where with ShowMax it buffers and buffers and buffers and I'm yet to find a video where the audio is in sync with the images!

How can you launch a product that cannot even keep the audio and images in sync? Very disappointed.

Yes it would be, I had that issue with my LG, but I just switched it back to South Africa to install ShowMax, and my Netflix app is still there.

Do not want then!

but, but, but, but it's Naspers, it must be better...

You need to go to the doctor - your eyes and ears seem to be out of sync

or

maybe you're just watching it incorrectly - did you check the FAQ's?

Might be specific to the LG Smart TV App for ShowMax, not sure but it's ridiculous none the less.

Tested yesterday on a 50" LG Webos TV:
*Loading time: Faster than Nextflix. Similar to Hulu.
*Quality:The same as Hulu
*Not buffer. I was testing it while streaming from Hulu on a PC.

I tested it as of 1h ago, 30min ago and again just prior to this post. I'm getting the buffer and out of sync. Yet at the same time when I open Netflix and test, it works perfectly. So perhaps their network is just under more strain today than it was yesterday?

Maybe. I will test it again tonight. Do you use wifi or the ethernet cable to connect the TV?
My setup: 10 mbps Adsl connection. TV connected via Ethernet(Powerline network 150mbps)

I had the same experience yesterday evening on an iPhone when Netflix and the like play seamlessly.

Anyway, they are developing an Apple TV app, but they cannot give me a release date. I will hold off until then and hopefully the kinks would have been worked out by then.

Same here.
Currently I pay for Netflix + Hulu + HBO Now + Unotelly. This looks like it will give me a pretty decent replacement, for a fraction of the cost

So you're giving up on recent content (Hulu) and a huge back catalogue (Netflix)?
