ShowMax tested

Showmax - Sound Sync, horrible interface, doesn't show episodes as watched or continue where you last stopped watching. I used it for about 10 minutes total and I won't use it again. Not any time soon anyway.

You raise valid points. How difficult can it be to show an episode as "watched"? The interface is also poor and they use flash to stream! It is a shoddy product so unless they have not resolved it, I will not be interested. (They should also work on their contents).

Is the Showmax App for Samsung smart TVs only available if the region is set to SA?
Can't find it in the store.

EDIT: Chatted with ShowMax rep on the website. It's a region thing.

The interface is almost certainly the result of a rush job made to just get something out in the public domain. Won't touch.

Ugh.. Was hoping that I wouldn't have to do region trickery in order to get it running. Do I have to go through the entire region reset on the smart tv to set to SA, install SlowMax, and then? Will netflix and hulu be gone? From what I remember when setting up my Smart TV in 2013, this was the case. Once you change country, it resets the apps and removes ones not allowed/licensed in a certain region/country. Hoping I'm wrong and there's a way to do this, or I'll rather stay in the US and no SlowMax for me then...

Opted to trial showmax yesterday. Used chromecast. On 4Mbps Telkom ADSL, we get about 2.6Mbps and although there was intermittent buffering (approx 4-5 times in 2 hours), we had the same issue with netflix trial so I would continue for now. Didn't notice audio lag as mentioned in one of the reviews, maybe beginner's luck. :)

You should maybe have a chat with Unotelly or which ever one you use to access Netflix, to add showbox to their list. Not sure if that would do the trick, everything my side is PC and android based. Don't know how smart tv's work so just guessing.

The audio has been fixed a while back. I also get the occasional buffering, but so far not a bad experience when watching series. Movies on the other hand do buffer a lot.

anybody know how to get the things in fullscreen or 16:9 etc? i dont have this option

Can one force ShowMax to stream at 720p or is that not how these things work? I'm specifically talking about Game of Thrones, starting from Season 1.

If your internet is fast enough, 4Mbps, then it will stream at 720P.
