Sign a warning letter?

I don't think I have ever heard of anyone ruining their name in the IT industry.

Its not like we are lawyers or doctors LOL

unless you have a very specific skill that can ONLY be gaind at one place;

then I suppose its possible, but not going to the CCMA?

dosent make any sense at all;

Pfft, make a mistake at the one place, get written up for it (or, worse, possibly, fired).

Use the experience gained from that mistake in your next job...

Except it wasn't a mistake ; that's the whole reasoning

Do you think it would be possible to appeal the whole thing at group level?

Might make the GM and HR VERY uncomfortable if they hear that this might go up to group level.

Part of me says "do it" but another part says "be very, very careful"...

For the guys just joining, a very quick summary. I'm missing out huge chunks, but here's here goes :

We had a presentation - around 20 of us looking after brands - back early July. A PowerPoint presentation (The Plan) was shown at the time and it was said we'd need to present back to this GM, as she's fairly new,

Warning letter contents :

“… have arrived unprepared for a meeting … after an email was sent to you ... instructing you what was needed for the meeting. The fact that you had not read this email is unacceptable’

a) I requested the email (The Plan) in the meeting while sitting there, saying I couldn't find it. Please resend it or give me a date it was originally sent.
b) In the issuing, I requested a 2nd time that I didn't have any email (The Plan) and that is when it got nasty. After arguing for 10-15 minutes, I was told the the email (The Plan) would be sent the following day
c) When nothing was sent as promised, I requested a 3rd time if they could please show me the mail (The Plan) - and that's when GM said 'there is no email - I verbally said it in my presentation and you should have taken notes'

So now she's backtracking saying 'oh the instruction was the presentation ; YOU should have taken notes. Unacceptable if you didn't' - but it's pure backtracking. I was the first person to do this meeting - but when she officially sent it to the company she started

'In the presentation where you should have taken notes ....'

I've just got the real written appeal outcome ; all wrong - I don't even understand it and he probably didn't even understand the case at hand. He's requested them to put dates on the warning letter now.

Again dude... its not worth the fight, just move on.

It takes time ; if I got an offer tomorrow, I'd leave without a doubt.

But arguing this is at least buying time

I personally wouldn't give up without a fight. I'd want the person responsible to either admit wrongdoing or be found guilty in a hearing against them.

While I see how you are being unfairly treated it does look like you are sabotaging this a bit.

What the best outcome for you here ?

I do believe it'll be the same outcome at the end of the day. Back in July the decision was clearly to work me out. With rules, not super easy... But the process started.

IMO they're proceeding whether I put my head down and work ; or whether I keep fighting. The result will be I'm going.

How am I sabotaging?

I'd leave if I got an offer or 6 months

In the last meeting was she not suggesting you carry on and forget about it

She was - but she's playing the game. She doesn't want me to go to CCMA and says 'just relax ; you're not going to get fired anytime soon ; no need to get worked up ; only a verbal and a written ; just put your head down and everything will be ok.

But ... they are working me out and building up a case. HR called someone in that they saw me chatting to. I get more requests for numbers and presentation in the last 2 months than anyone. This meeting was held weeks ahead of anyone else doing. They're throwing everything my way and putting huge pressure on to see my make a mistake.

It's victimization actually

OK well as long as you get another job, fck them. Hard lesson for someone to learn

Standard tactics.
They did the same to my wife last year.... it is a monumentally steep climb to even attempt to win against this.
Best to move on.

Really really really can't wait to expose these bad humans
