Sign a warning letter?

PS. HR has an IPhone.

I'm going to think about it tonight - but I think I will. The thing is the result is they want me out. Whether I fight it or not, it'll be the same situation.

So you're thinking cut my losses and run?

Seems like the best outcome for you. :/

Is the end game of the warning a disciplinary hearing with the intention of dismissal right now... or is it just a written warning to go on file?

Weigh up your options very carefully obviously...

It's written, yea.

I thought these charges needed to be accurate?

“… have arrived unprepared for a meeting … after an email was sent to you instructing you what was needed for the meeting. The fact that you had not read this email is unacceptable’

I mean looking at the above, combined with no date/time/venue ; with forcing to sign the letter and not allowing me state case made me think it should be a fairly easy case? As was said, crux is the email

As it is "only" a warning letter, I would advise that you continue working there and keeping your nose clean. Work to rule, while looking for employment elsewhere. Do not give them any reason for taking any further action against you.

Yeah, that is my inclination as well...

Keep the evidence relating to this written warning with you, and keep everything documented going forward to keep yourself in the clear.
If this is just the start of a "campaign" to remove you from the company at least you will have evidence to prove constructive dismissal.

Signing the letter is just acknowledgement of receipt. You will make your case during a hearing or arbitration.
If it is frivolous or unfair, you should be ok. They are usually on the employee's side in the beginning

That's what they keep repeating - and I'm aware of that. But I'm still entitle to not sign and they can simply make a note. It does have to erupt into a fight over an employee not signing. If there is a provision in internal disciplinary code and in LRA, then comply.

When I was targetted by a psycho hose beast I requested a transfer to a different department.

Is that an option for you?

Just pm everyone the company. God I can't wait to find out where this is.

If they have another position, I could ask to leave. But she's GM and has a grudge, so unless I can move out the building - that won't work.

I just battle to understand how a reasonable person can see that letter as standing up! This is corporate bullying of another level

I am sorry it had to come to this, but this is how corporates in SA are run at the moment, its all fun and games, they actively look for weaknesses and cracks... sometime I wonder why they actually hire people in the first place.

I've been looking around the past week and submitted my CV to a few places already.

I went to another GM yesterday and said 'if you want me out, just mutually agree on a separation agreement' He told me they didn't want me out etc and if they did, they'd have offered me before this all started. He then promptly told the GM that I've having issues with and she came to me and said I need to chat to her and no one else concerning it.

I sat for an hour in HR yesterday and they told me I shouldn't go to CCMA because it's messy ... I ruin my name in the industry .. severe ties with this company ... they treat me harder because I have 'manager' in my title etc etc. It looks like they know they're very wrong though. HR advised me to forget it, let it blow over and just work.

I'm still deciding my next step :/

Wow... what a backtrack..

FWIW, our trip to the CCMA last year didn't tarnish our reputation, they still gave a good reference.

Wow that's pretty blatant. It's a pity you didn't record that, because it looks to me like a threat to keep you from going to the CCMA.

And your GM said not to chat with anyone else about it - also interesting and unethical.

How about this - go back to the guy you were chatting with and request a transfer? Don't explain too much about why. Don't make it sound like you are running away.

BULL fscking ****. They are trying to make things easier for themselves and secondly, a company is not allowed to speak bad of their employees.

I wonder what the process for wrongful warnings are on a company level? It may be that in order to reverse the process higher authorization is required which will get them all in ****e so they are trying to cover things up.

This Def sounds like hr are trying to cover their ass in a big way atm... if this thing ended up at the ccma the company would crash and burn and you don't ruin your name in the industry.. you do burn bridges with the company though of course.

I don't think I have ever heard of anyone ruining their name in the IT industry.

Its not like we are lawyers or doctors LOL
