Good day,
So I need a solution on the following.
One of our offices are on a farm, outside Bronkhorstepruit.
The Vodacom signal is realy bad. We struggle contact the people on the farm, and my alarm system does not reach my workers due to the bad signal.
What can i do to improve this?
I did consider installing a decent internet network on the farm, however at R10k pm this is not an option.

Signal booster will only work around the booster itself. It won't cover large areas. BTW have you tried MTN? We also used to use VC and the coms were shocking. Changed to MTN and we get fantastic coverage on the farm, even in the valleys.

R10k pm is steep for internet. We have a WISP and it costs R1500 pm for a 5mbps 750/1500Gb soft/hard cap. I seldom go over 400Gb a month and I stream everything.

You can put pressure on VC for them to come and install a booster in your office. Just phone them and give them as many VC phone numbers as you can. Tell them they all complain about reception.

We do have MTN on the farm yes. Also very weak signal.
The reason for the R10k is due to the location of the farm. Very isolated.

I'm also isolated. before we could get wireless internet I was on satellite and that was very expensive and slow.

Try https://wapa.org.za/ they will put WISP's into contact with you. A WISP will ask for your gps coordinates and they can tell you straight away if you can potentially get their signal or not. If they think you can then they will come out and do a test.

I have the mini dish at the dairy that gets the signal from a local tower about 7 Km from me. The signal comes via a few relays from Durban. From the dairy I beam the signal to the two houses on the farm. They are 500 meters from the dairy. A 5ghz AP can send the signal about 1 km without a mini dish. Add a mini dish and I think it's about 18Km.

Just a quick look and you can get 6mbps 200GbFUP for R640 + R250 FUP release ticket. http://wistec.co.za

The problem is not the point to point but to get the signal there.
