Hello. I need to do a sim swap on cell c network. The problem is that I can't remember the date of my rechargeable details and the last three numbers I called. Please help

Hi there

Unfortunately, we would recommend that you try to remember these details, should they be requested as a part of the security check. Please note that it would not be possible to process the sim swap, if you haven't passed the security check.

I swapped my physical sim for an esim at eastgate mall and though I was physically present with my id and proof of residence I still had to do that exam with questions like last five dialled numbers, last time I recharged, how much etc. I had my phone with me and banking app from where I buy airtime so I could just get the answers from there ( they allowed me to cheat the exam using my cellphone). I think I passed the exam because they swapped and gave me an esim voucher. Without my phone I would have failed those security questions. I am however happy that someone else will not have it easy to swap my CellC number.
 
Someone broke my locker at the gym and stole my phone. I have been using the sim card for about 7 years with no hassles. I have done about 3 swim swaps with the sim card and yesterday I called and requested Cell C to suspend my sim card of which they did. Today I called again requesting the phone to be blocked as I was unaware at the time that the phone has to be blocked in order to open a case.

I have failed their security checks for the first time today and when I enquired the consultant advised the sim card does not belong to me. I am frustrated because I bought this phone on the 25th last month and I can't even open a case. Please help I just want to be able to claim my phone back from my insurer. I have been using Cell C since 2012 and I was never disappointed this way with their service. This thing is erasing all the great memories I have had with their service. Please help as my insurer cannot do anything without the ITC number and I can't even do anything as well in relation to open a case for my new phone.

Hi I need to do a sim swap I want my old number back I was at cell c and they could not help me coz my sim was what they call a batch rica so now I'm stuck and wondering y all of a sudden my sim stopped working coz I was vodacom and actually changed networks only to be disappointed by CellC.

Hi Candice

You must purchase a new sim card that is not registered, then contact us so that we can assist. Alternatively, you can do the sim swap at a Cell C store.

Good morning. My name is John Ditu and I was robbed on the 18th April 2022, I have requested for a sim swap as im in sale and my life rotates around that number adn they have said i have answered the security questions wrong, look I bought that sim 8 Years ago when I was a kid without rica, hence the details are under a random stranger. i got a affidavit from the police station indicating my issue but still no help. Unfortunately, even with the Affidavit, it would not be possible to have the sim swap completed unless you have the security check completed.

Please cell c help me with simswap someone did simswap on my number when I was out of the country. This is my business number linked to my bank account and my permit. Went to shop was not assisted. My whatup gone with my documents.number was registered with mkuru account. I go proof from my bank account, my Facebook page. Please cell c help me. I used this number for many years. My life

Number was most probably recycled due to not being in use. If it has been reassigned to a new number you are SOL. You will need to get a new SIM and get a new number and update your details everywhere.

Kindly note that the process can only be done if the SIM card was registered under your names and ID number. You will also be required to pass the security questions. There is a lot of fraud when it comes to SIM swaps and that is why we take the necessary steps to protect you as the customer as well as Cell C.

Please PM us the number in question, RICA serial number of your unregistered SIM card and an alternative contact number to reach you on.

My cellc sim card is not working anymore. It says no sim card when I put it into my phone I tried to do a sim swap but I'm always getting the security questions incorrec. I really need my old number back my life line is on it. Please can you help me I beg you.

We can imagine your frustration. However, as per RICA legislation we can only assist you with a SIM swap if the number is in your name and was being actively used by you. You also need to pass the mandatory security check before we can action the SIM swap for you. There is a lot of fraud when it comes to SIM swaps and that is why we take the necessary steps to protect you as the customer as well as Cell C.
