Simcity 2013

I walked into Incredible Connection yesterday and bought a copy for R399, not the cheapest, but I was lazy and happy to get a physical copy before the release date.

Went home installed, used TunnelBear free VPN to spoof US IP. Updated game, had quite a bit of frustration getting started on a server, lots of connectivity issues, but eventually played for about 4 hours with no problems.

Enjoying it very much thus far, but not sure how long it will hold my interest.

why did you have to spoof your IP , cant you play with a South African IP?

There weren't any EU region servers available until today.

Mine is still busy downloading. Will probably only be able to play next week sometime.

Apparently the maps are too small, and the AI is dumb.

I was so looking forward to this... and although it does have shiny new graphics I dont know. S4 seems so much better, just because its so much bigger, and the other cities in the area connect properly instead of this weird system in S5 :/ Sigh

Its definitely going to be a case of wait and see for me. If there is even a hint of DLC for bigger maps and/or other transport options it'll be a no go

I was so keen for this game, I pre-ordered it and everything.

Now I'm stuck with it so I'll just have to wait and see.

I don't think it would be that difficult for them to make the maps much bigger?

I suspect with the large maps the drain on PC resources would be too great, perhaps in DLC content they will have larger maps

The small map size does kinda annoy me, but I think it's something I can live with. The whole idea is that you now have regions which have up to 16 of these cities that you can play yourself or let someone else play, private or public. The cities share certain resources across the entire region. So you pick specializations for each city which assists other cities. So you could effectively have a city which is entirely residential and just uses taxes to buy all it's required power/water/police/fire etc from other cities in the region. Still learning so yeah...

That is the kind of thinking that is ruining PC gaming.
They will obviously charge $20 for the DLC...

So is this game super complicated or easy for a beginner to get into?

Im seeing a lot of reviewers shooting this down, and then those people who actually playing the game finding it hard to put it down....

Time will tell, im busy installing :D

Probably not (its the nature of city sims) especially with some of the bugs in the game at launch
And especially not since you cant save a game, so you make a mistake and you'll be starting from scratch as far as I can tell

SIMCITY SERVER BUSY 20 minutes waiting and then...... oops STILL busy WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT aaaaaaaaaaaaaaarg :(

Ok here is my take on this. Sim City 2013 is going to be the biggest f up in the history of online gaming.

If the game servers even with added capacity can't cope forcing Amazon to suspend sales how do they expect it to cope when the cities will be much bigger using up much more resources. As I see it they have two choices. Introduce an offline mode or make the game a subscription service.
