Sinotec 'highly competitive' on quality

I wanted to buy the 46" whalfdale lcd before i got my projector, may still do so.

Anyone own whalfdale?

Hayi. Stay away from this k4k. If you want something cheap go for Sinotec.

I'm a proud owner of a 47" Sinotec full HD LCD TV. I love it.

My dad has a 52" Phillips LCD TV that costs 3 times what I payed for my Sinotec. The Sinotec holds its own against the Phillips!

Phillips is an awesome make though - doesn't have a cool sounding name to me, as my buddy's name is philip :D but that brand really is solid - those things just don't pack up!

Good advice brawler, I just don't trust that brand....it's a Hi-fi corp brand isn't it?

I know. I have nothing against the Phillips. Phillips TVs have always been awesome. All I'm saying is that the Sinotec is really, really, really good value for money. It is right up there with the big boys.

Who read the article?

From Article:
....although the company only offers its plasma units in Full HD.....

 I've only seen HD-LCDs from Sinotec, not Plasma

In terms of unit build Jimmy said that Sinotec does manufacture its own panels but uses externally sourced panels

 Which is it, self manufactured, or externally sourced?

Sinotek discussion

Sinotec discussion.

Sorry guys, sometimes things slip through the cracks in terms of editing.

Sinotec only offers HD Ready Plasmas for now.

Sinotec don't manufacture their own panels.

That's the lowdown

yes iris99 i agree - they should drop their prices a bit to stay ahead.

It all depends on what's on special - R500 diff go for sammy!

Thats the big thing. I am already nervous of the "lesser" brands because of my lousy experience with Sansui but I really believe that there should be more of a price difference between a Sony and a Sinotec if they want to get the business. It's like a dealership trying to sell a CHERRY motor car for the same price (or slightly less) as a Toyota (with the same specs). There needs to be a pricing incentive to get the smaller brand. We are talking about expensive stuff, R9K, which is a lot of money. The warranty also helps but I have Sony and Panasonic stuff still going long after their warranties have expired.

yes, but like I said - "It all depends on the special"

at the moment there is no sinotec special, and here are the prices:

SINOTEC 42" (107cm) Full HD LCD TV R 9,400.00
SAMSUNG 40" (107cm) Full HD LCD TV R 11,999.00
LG 42" (107cm) Full HD LCD TV R 14,999.00

R5600 More, or R2600 more money, for a smaller screen and a few years off the warranty? you better like that samsung sticker and BE SURE you can "see better colours" on the samsung.

and when there's a Special, that "jump" is going to be even bigger.

I always knew imperial measurements were screwed

such snobbery on these forums. a new product enters the market at a lower price to more established players, and the vast majority of those who have had an experience with said product are overwhelmingly happy with their purchases. yet there are those (who probably haven't even seen the product in action) who stick their noses in the air and turn away simply because it's a "lesser" brand, i.e. sinotec doesn't waste money on ads that we the consumer would end up paying for anyways. or of course they're all rich.

anyways, i'm impressed with my current 42" sinotec lcd, and i'm saving up for the 52" as we speak. as long as sinotec keeps (or improves) the current quality of their lcds at lower than "branded" overrated brands' prices, sony/samsung/lg will never see my money. just goes to show how much we're being ripped a new one by these big names

yep, can't be more true. it's a shame really, that a lot of people don't know about sinotec yet

I am not a guy that is easily pleased, trust me - but I would Recommend Sinotec to anyone - If more people buy Sinotec, then less buy LG/etc, and the more competition there is - and in the end, the insanely priced brands have to bring down their insane prices.

I mean, R20 000 for a 47" LG LCD? you gotta be kidding me! I mean, I paid half that for 5 inches less, more than a year ago!

Just saw a 7-series 52" Samsung for R45 000...I'm sure it's a new series and nice and all but R45 000?

If you really, really think about it - Is it that much more money worth just for a samsung sticker? I know some people are stinking rich, but, is the color *that* much better, and worth the R25000 extra?

It's time to drop the friggen prices already.

Just remember: The new TVs have higher refresh rates. My Sinotec only goes up to 60Hz while my dad's Phillips goes up to 100Hz. I see the 120Hz models are also coming out now.

I just hope Sinotec keeps up. I love mine.

thats strange, mine is 100Hz

when did you buy urs?
