Sinotec VS LG

Who said 20 years? You said 6 months. I will give good odds that they'll be more expensive in 6 months.

Well I would wait. If the markets collapse the LCDs will either drop in price
even more as companies try to dump as much of their stock as possible
and stop production altogether or what you say persists and LCDs maintain
their prices of increase by 5% - which is still below inflation.
But we're not talking about a year. We're talking about 6 months. Thus we'll have an increase of around 15%.

Do you know how long that special is on for ?

I went into game yesterday and went testing with a laptop the LG 32" does look better than the sinotech 32" but not R1000.00 better unless you actualy studying the diff like i was, there is none but then i hooked it up to a Logik FUll HD 42" and wow that was nice for 3000.00 more i really think its worth it or this sinotech 42" looks good for only R2000.00 more than the LG and Full HD vs HD ready 1330x768 vs 1960x1080 :)

That Sinotec on special does look a good deal, not the best panel but for that price i'd get it if it suited my needs.

Just remember - Normal DSTV & DVDs won't look that great on a cheap 1080P panel. Think of the amount of upscaling required to 1080P.

GO for it if you are going to be using it for computer, blueray or DSTV HD.

I can get a friend's brand spanking new Bravia 40" LCD (New price = R13 000 @ makro - special) for R9000.

I'm only gonna have normal DSTV (my complex supplies the cable from the dish and each house only gets one... So I can't go HD-PVR) and maybe play XBOX on it..

Is this still worth it or should I go for a R15k 50" screen?? Sinotech/LG/Whatever?? What I'm actually asking is : Will my DSTV look crapper on 1920x1200 or on a Plasma..

Also : I'm gonna be watching sport mostly, heard Plasma kicks LCD's butt in that department?

but when u wanna come play with the big boys IE 42", 46", 52", then the brand difference is between about R4000 to 12000.

I see at makro sinotec has a 47" FullHD LCD for R15,000 and a SAMSUNG 46" for R22,000.

now is R7000 really worth the sony logo? i'd buy a laptop, 4870X2 or an iPhone for that kind of money rather.

If a person is not worried about throwing R15K at a TV then I doubt the extra R7K will even touch sides and if it does, they are buying outside of their pay bracket. If I were to throw 15K at a TV, I would want it to be perfect and my experience with lesser brands has taught me that that is unlikely to happen. The 5 year guarantee means nothing if the TV is in for repairs every 5 minutes.

If you look at hellopeter.com you can see the Ratio's (What % are happy)

LG: 5% Happy
Sinotec: 57% Happy

When something goes wrong after 12 months, you don't wanna be stuck with no guarantee and no customer service. **** does happen you know, and electronics CAN and WILL fail at some point or another.

With Sinotec I get:
- a Bigger Screen @ a MUCH cheaper price

You don't by any chance work for Sinotec?

The Sonic 50 inch plasma looks pretty good in terms of colour and contrast. However, its a bad brand so I would avoid.

DSTV (non-HD) won't look crap but it won't be HD. DSTV does not look
crap on my 42 inch 720p plasma but it does not look as good as the upscaled DVD picture (my set has a great upscaler). The DVD picture is much much nicer.

no LOL - I just give advice to people who think it's crap to go compare it first. i was also like "hmm...don't know this brand" I wanted a Scarlet or a Bravia or a sammy 32", but rather added R2000 and got a 42" Full HD instead of Semmi-HD.

I'm happy with it, and would recommend anyone to check it out/compare them.

People that put brands before specs are dumb.

That is a brilliant screen, i'd take it without even thinking even though plasma is better for SDTV. The Bravia engine does a pretty good job of upscaling.

Fair enough.

After my experience with Sansui, I won't ever touch a non named brand again. Their 5 yr guarantee means squat.

Listen, i'm not saying buy a no-name brand that you know is **** because it's cheap...

I wouldn't buy those either - but I have heard mostly only good things about sinotec when I was doing a few weeks worth of research before buying.

If you can afford, get Samsung, Sony or Sharp.
If you don't have that much, get a sinotec - just as good.
if you have almost no money, don't buy crap - save a few months more rather...

I think im going for that special from game that one really looks way better than my previous choice of LG

special for R2000.00 more than the LG

But
LG = R5999.00 vs. Sinotec = R7999.00
LG = 1500:1 vs. Sinotec = 2000:1
LG = 32”(81Cm) vs. Sinotec = 42”(107cm)
LG = 1330x760res vs. Sinotec = 1920x1080res
LG = HD Ready vs. Sinotec = Full HD
LG = 12Month Guarantee(1Year) vs. Sinotec = 60Month(5Year)

I think its worth it

same situation i was in - cept i compared it to bravia's, sammy's and lg scarlet. glad i went for the 42", now I have it and have never looked back, instead of sitting with a 32" (Which is OK though - my friend takes his 32" to lan's, I can't even move my 42" (it's about 20KG's!)

Um... The LG contrast ratio is 15000:1, not 1500:1.....
I had a Sansui with a 5yr guarantee.... gave me so many gray hairs it's not even funny...

The only thing thats worrying me a bit my mates that went to go test it said they couldnt get it to work at high res im sure they must of missed something i dont see why it wouldnt work at that res
