So.. we have a nuke station already. Its never killed anyone. As much as you might disregard Africa I dont. There has never been a nuclear power plant fatality in the whole of Africa

Strange you were the wrong color for a technical position. I mean... the brought in the french the last time to fix it.... theyre the wrong color as well. Working in technical Ive never had a problem with the color of my skin. In my experience, you cant replace good technical with quotas. Im the "wrong color" and I am technical.. never had a problem getting a job.Sheesh, speaking as a nuclear engineer who left the country because he's the "wrong" colour you guys have a looong way to go.
First: SA can't afford ONE coal fired power station. They had to borrow the money from the world bank.
Second: The standard of "new" nuke operators in SA is so dire that the IAEA has expressed grave misgivings. Do you really think they'll grant 6 licences to SA?
I'm wondering which banned forumite this one is.

Are you saying I'm lying?

I will say you are paranoid![]()
Saying something will never happen is rather dumb. Moving on...
SA, just like any other country can get skills and expertise from other countries.
As for biofuels... Well, they use more energy to grow than what they produce. So thats a no no. The end.
You also seem to lack the knowledge of how coal power plants work. Biofuel can only be used during the ignition process to replace normal fuel. It cant replace the coal.
By that theory we should shut down each and every coal power station - during normal operation coal power stations release far more toxins into the air and water than what nuclear power does during normal operation. Coal power related deaths and disease are a several order of magnitudes greater than all nuclear power related incidents.
Nuclear power for SA is the height of idiocy. Nuclear (I hope) is not a remote possibility in SA until we are an order of magnitude more jacked-up. This will **never** happen, so we must investigate other alternative energy options.
Very different to your first post. And again, never is a very long time. You are extremely arrogant to make such statements. It will **never** happen under an ANC government. I stand by this. Satisfied?
I said expertise can be imported, not that it should be. I'm all for local development. How about bring inthe foreigners to begin with while they train us up. A very viable solution methinks.Just like everything else. Destroy any local ‘white’ expertise, than import foreign ‘white’ expertise at huge expense + the expense of 6 nuclear power stations. ANC brilliance!
If you look at the entire cycle of growing biofuels on land, more energy is used to produce biofuels than what they would deliver. Fact. Its been researched and several studies have come to the same conclusion. I have yet to come across a viable method of growing biofuels out at sea. I know its possible, but currently its far to difficult. This must rank as one of the most bankrupt and inane responses that MyBB has received. I hope they have a ‘stupid’ file. Energy is ridiculous. Irrigation water may be a problem overcome by seawater algae. Plenty of sea.
What are you rabbiting on about? ALL generators receive their motive force from steam derived from boilers heated by something (biofuels in my example). Even nuclear heats the water in the boilers (via nuclear means) to produce steam. Once the (steam produced) motive force turns the generators, electricity production is the same. It is only the means of heating the water to produce steam that is in contention. You favour nuclear. I maintain that nuclear is dangerous for SA.
Did I say anything about the steam? No. Or about how electricity is produced? No. Fact is a coal burner is very different to one that would use biofuel as a source. Its not the simple change you would have us believe. With the bio-diesel option, all the existing power stations can be used with little or no modification
Government is talking about a new, independent entity that will see to nuclear power.
You are treading dangerously close to a libel suit here.
