Yeah, out of sight, out of mind. They bury them in the wilderness for our ancestors to deal with in 1000 years from now.

The designers of 3-Mile-Island, Windscale and Chernobyl all said it couldn't happen to them.
 
I always laugh when people see nuclear energy as "clean" energy..I mean, we are a country that takes simple mining and screws up the harmful by-products that it produces; we cant even dispose of our medical waste properly either; and now we want to deal with more nuclear..Building 5 nuclear stations means building 5 more treatment centers, and those treatment centers are not cheap at all (not safe either)..

We are a country which experiences some of the highest radiation levels which are perfect for concentrated solar power, government should focus their energy there, not on "quick" fixes..I dont want to live next to the next Chernobyl

Yes, and nobody learnt anything from those incidents. We are all just carrying on in exactly the same way. Riiiiiight. You're clutching at straws now.

What solar tech do you propose we implement that can meet the capacity needs we have?
 
I'm no fan of nuclear power.

The fact that it's controlled by idiots that have proven they can't even maintain simple infrastructure scares me even more.

Look, I know you have some sort of Greenpeace hippy agenda but rather let the people who know what they are talking about discuss this. Its clear you don't have a clue.

The Pebble Bed project is dead, which raises questions about your own knowledge of current affairs.

1/2 Life of U238 ~ 5 billion years
U235 = 700 million years

(A pebble contains U235 BTW,)
 
Can't believe that there are still those that think nuclear plants will just go up in smoke.

The combustion of coal contributes the most to acid rain and air pollution, and has been connected with global warming.

A question for folks:

Why doesn't the worlds nuclear body get all nuclear powered countries to club in to have their waste sent via rocket towards the sun?

Feasible?
