Skyrim

How do I recharge a staff? I have picked up a really cool staff of paralysis, but have used up all the charges. Now its uselless. Please help.

Inventory -> Weapons

Highlight the weapon (or mouse over) and at the bottom of your Inventory there will be a button corresponding to Charge. On PC it's "T"

You then select the Soul Gem you wish to use

I downloaded a few smithing addons, including a mod that allows you to break down weapons into a small number of base components. I'm hesitant to try it, given how overbalanced Smithing already is, but I'll load it up and give a report back tomorrow

You can recharge weapons with a filled soul gem. To fill a soul gem you need to get an empty soul gem and use a soultrap spell just before you kill something.

Wow, I was walking around close to the edge of the map, and this guy gave me a quest. Ended up in a place called BlackReach.

Cannot believe the size of the place. Any1 else been there yet?

Nightingale stealth ftw?
Anyway, Dl'd a mod that adds some new conjurer spells so ima go log my conjurer and raise me an army :D
Im at a gamers wall(if u can call it that) where ive created 5 different chars and done diff questlines on each and its hard to pick one to finish the game with :/

What mod and where?

Yeah. You can find Sinderion's remains there. His research journal gives a quest where you collect crimson nirnroot, although it's a lot easier than the Oblivion counterpart. The quest reward is the ability to get extra potions when you use Alchemy.

Open your inventory then go to the staff and there will be a option to recharge. you will need a filled soul gem

I used to be an adventurer like you, then I took an arrow in the knee.

:D Some funny "but then I took an arrow in the knee" comic spin offs out there. :p

One of the funnier things in Skyrim is when your sneak lvl is quite high and you do a sneak-bow attack on someone. They'll run around with an arrow sticking out of their foreheads going "is someone there?"

Thanks all.

How do you guys play the game? Explore and do caves/dungeons at random as you discover them, or rather play the quests and only visit places on the map if you need to via a quest?
I play via questst. I'm too affraid that visiting any places at random might break the game or any quests for me. Opinions?
Also, is there a list of all the quests in the game? (Something you can check after you have finished the main quest, to see which ad hoc quests are still available.

I just explore and do the odd quests. I love how the game actually adapt the quests, you only see it when you start a second toon. So no, you cant break them easily.

When I need to go to another location because of a quest I never fast travel.... well not yet, way to much to see to do that.

How do I get a horse? (not stealing)

1000 gold in the following cities depending on what color you want:
  • Markarth - Pinto/Paint
  • Riften - Dapple Grey
  • Solitude - Mealy Chestnut
  • Windhelm - Bay with white blaze and socks
  • Whiterun - Black

There are 2 uniqie ones as well that you get via quests:
  • Shadowmere do The Cure for Madness
  • Frost do Promises to Keep

On another note

Anyone know what the Level cap is for Skyrim?

Looks cool? Understatement award there :D

Welcome to the society of folks who have no more social life

Correction: we would have a society, but we're all too busy playing Skyrim to attend meetings...
