Skyrim

Re: Lockpicking - Not really worth it putting any perks into that I think. On lower skill levels, you'll lose some lockpicks on the higher level locks (expert/master), but lockpicks are cheap and readily available. A possible exception is the special treasure perk, but you need 4? prereq's just to get it. I'm not sure how big an effect it has either.

I've been enjoying my sneaky archer so far, but last night I equipped one hand + shield just for the heck of it.... and WOAH finishing moves are awesome!! Shields also bring quite a different dynamic to fights, where you can interrupt an enemy's attack with a well timed shield bash :) Heavy on the stamina though.

For those people who like experimenting, but don't want to restart their char from scratch, there's also console commands that you can use to remove / add specific perks. It doesn't affect perk points, but if you want to keep it 'legit' you just add the same amount of perks that you removed ;)

I finally gave in and bought Skryim for PC this afternoon :D

Excited to give it a spin! I have no idea what class or anything I will choose. That is always an agonizing decision...

Same, I was avoiding buying it because Oblivion turned into a disappointment. So yesterday I stumbled across a bunch of Skyrim threads and folded. Took me 20min to go from Musica to CNA to TopCD to Incredible Connection to find a sole lost copy hiding on a bottom shelf and voila! Just 3hrs of gametime were enough to get me hooked!

Now if I can just finish this one in under 3 months, I might even try a different character, harhar!

I wasn't even intending on buying it right now. I was just wondering around a CNA and they just so happened to have one copy on the shelf. I have heard that there is a bit of a Skyrim shortage at the moment, so I thought "Meh, why the hell not!"

I've done A LOT of this, removing perks I thought I would use but don't - if you want to 'pay' for a respec, just drop X amount of gold in the river for RP value

If anyone wants to know more, drop me a PM

I'm guessing the console scripting mode is for PC's only. Consoles, Y U NO HAVE console mode?

Apparently there's a new 18MB patch out that breaks some of the current mods. Heard that it forces you to start the game through Steam as well.

*reminds self never to log in to Steam again to avoid the patch*

Can someone be the guinea pig and check if you can only start the game by logging into Steam? (after patching)

It breaks the 4gb optimization fix for x64 machines as far as I know

Wasn't it released a few days ago already?

I am 95% sure that you are correct :D

There was a small patch that does just that released a few days ago. Not sure if there is another patch though...

So loaded on a few mods last night.

The water and enviroment are top class. That sky one is pure :love: Wow

I also installed the inventory one and doesn't work. I get the view right, but can't scroll through anything. Which is a pity cause that the one that could have actually been helpful!

Anybody else got the Glowing Ore Veins 300? Don't really wanna have to create an account there, but looks like have to for any files > 2MB.

On the topic of mods and the patch:

The patch mainly affected the .exe for Skyrim. Basically forcing you to use Steam to run the game and breaking the 4GB memory mod, there is already a new version of this mod out though which works.

As for mods, I currently use:

Detailed Faces;
No more blocky faces;
Realistic water texture;
Skyrim HD - 2k textures;
Glowing Ore Veins 300;
Enhanced Night Sky;

These are all definately worth it!

With regards to UI and inventory mods, I would avoid these for the time being untill the creation kit is released. After that you will see the proper mods start coming out and making this brilliant game even better.

I've discovered that when looting chests, if I select "Take All", then Skyrim exits to the desktop. No crash report, just a clean exit. Happened thrice in different locations

Is this a bug?

Would you mind making the Glowing Ore Vein available to myself? :o Don't like creating accounts if I only going to use them once.

Strange one. Never happened to me before.

who knows dude, i've had quite a few crashes to dekstop randomly like that. 1 was when clicking on "MISC" at a vendor. Another time when Riften gaurds started attacking a spider, i tried to talk to them while they attacking and boom desktop. Another time was pressing Alt + Space + Q at the same time haha.

As for some more of my play time :)

Got to spend a nice couple of hours with the game last night and finished some of the main quest and side quests. Will go back to High Hrothgar when I have shortened my side quest list a bit more.

Some things to note:

If you see a map on the table with little flags all over it, use the flags, these add new locations to your own map.
Go look for the daedric weapon in Whiterun if you haven't already.
Saber cats aren't fun in light armor. They kick ass though as a distraction for dragons that appear.
I experienced a bug last night where Chaurus Reapers were completely invisible while doing the side quest in Shimmermist Caverns. I crapped myself twice but eventually killed them.
Read every book you see, apart from skill ups these also start side quests and add new locations to the map.
I still love being the sneaky bow type. I've stopped working on things like smithing and enchanting as these only push up my level and I actually don't want to run around in an overpowered set of equipment.

PM me and I'll see if I can mail it to you tonight. I would suggest signing up at www.skyrimnexus.com though, as soon as the proper mods start coming out you will definately want an account :p

46 hours in on Xbox and on Level 24.

Conjuration is awesome and the best skill in my opinion.

I am also keeping Barbas the dog as long as possible although he is not following me anymore, I know where he is. He is indestructible but a pain in confined spaces.

I had to force myself away from the game on Tuesday night to play BF3 with my clannies.

:cry:

I've ignored many many books. Sigh. Just don't have the time to look at every single page!

Are the faces that bad that you need two mods for them?
