Skyworth Binge TV Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

We are not aware of any updates that might cause this. Are you able to cast other content (YouTube for example)? Is the DSTV Now app working directly on the box?
Casting doesn't work at all. DSTV now app works fine through the app as well as Youtube. What can I do here?

Perhaps somebody disabled the casting app in the app settings?

The apk in the link works on our box. You can adapt the instructions for Android TV 8.0. Netflix do not at this time provide any other APK that we are aware of.

We have given all the information we can regarding Netflix support, and if you go back through this forum, you will find comments from other users on Netflix's policies. It is not our place to comment on the policies of other companies.

We hope this clears up any confusion.

Please advise how to adapt apk for android 8.0 as I am unable to get it to work.

It's not compatible with Netflix.
Netflix also started to block all old Netflix apps from working on non certified devices.
If you had an Android device supporting LibreELEC, you could have run HD Netflix with auto frame-rate switching out of the box.

You could always try the phone version of Netflix, you need a mouse or airmouse to control it, limited to 480p quality.

We do not directly support sideloading, but in a nutshell, you can install File Commander (or similar) and try to open the APK off a USB stick. This will take you to the correct settings screen to allow sideloading. After that opening an APK will install it. APKs installed this way do not appear in the menu by default (you can find them in the Settings -> Apps section).

We highly recommend against using any apk except one you get directly from a trusted vendor (i.e. Netflix themselves). See here: https://help.netflix.com/en/node/57688

Thank you, but this doesn't work, hence why I asked. It gives the error "this app is not compatible with your device". You stated that it works on your box.

This link below works. I suggest reading the whole thread when you get a gap, as there is some useful info to be found. https://netflix.fileplanet.com/apk
Thank you, but i am well aware of that. I suggest that you take note of what is posted in this thread. I didn't ask for a link that works. I asked skyworth digital support to advise how they got the link they posted to work as i am not able to do that.

Yes, freekyzoid, it works, but it's not a tv app. In the takealot ad it CLEARLY states, no Netflix support, so why did you buy it?

The skyworth link to the netflix app did work originally (I am now on my second skyworth, sold the first to make a profit) , but 1),it was not a tv app, and 2),it stopped working for some reason.
I am thinking the cause is between oreo, and the last skyworth update.
Anyways, there would be no difference to the user experience, since it was not a tv app.

Lol. I knew when I bought it that there was no official support. But skyworth digital support said on this site that they got the app on the Netflix link to work on android 8.0. I would like to know how they did this. They used the words "adapt".

Guys, for the umpteenth time. Get a bloody xiaomi mi box if you don't want a k@k experience.
