Skyworth Binge TV Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

I think it is time you approach Skyworth SA management and come to an agreement with Takealot.

I want to return this box to Takealot..It really isnt worth it for me.

I bought the Skyworth Box due to the promise of future Netflix availability. You have commented a few times stating that Netflix approval is pending.we are now expected to download directly from Netflix(this doesn't work) and you now state that we should approach Netflix for comment.

This box has become an expensive paper weight to me.I want a refund and plan on getting a Mi box,

Please make the return process easier as I have not been successful so far.I am not happy with your product.

We have continually stated that we cannot promise Netflix support. We haven't given up, and would love to have support, but we have said in these forums several times not to bank on us getting it. We are sorry you are not happy with the product. How long has it been since you purchased it and what are Takealot saying when you try?

@Skyworth Digital Support just to let you know, I believe I've resolved the slow Google Assistant issue. I simply cleared data in the Google Search app, uninstalled all updates and updated it from the store. I then set it up from scratch and voila, works perfectly.
Glad to hear it! We have however noticed this on a fresh setup (after a factory reset), so we are still investigating. This may also be network related, so it is quite hard to pin down one root cause.

Nope all they said, was that they had made application to NetFlix for approval, and now all they can do is wait, as the ball is now in NetFlix'es court.
I would like to know why Netflix rejected their application..money?

There are a myriad of Google Approved boxes, that are awaiting approval or certification, the process seems to be slow, and somewhere, there is probably money involved.

NetFlix probably have a certification process in an effort to minimize their support issues, which lowers their costs. So Telkom probably got the LIT TVbix certified because they have their own support structure to carry a lot of the load. Just a guess mind you.

It's not money.

There's a few criteria that needs to be met, but it generally needs to be an operator agreement (ie not off the shelf). Then that operator needs to have certain criteria (ie caching server on their own network) and numbers that can/will be sold. Netflix isn't really going to look at you if you start talking 10,000 users ... they'll yawn.

I'm sure there is something more detailed online though

Do u know if their android smart tvs come with netflix already installed and working?

Ok, but when did he install it? 2017? Because now today it does not work (error - 13).

What are the confirmed general issues currently with this box besides the Netflix certification ?

Has anyone successfuly paired a bluetooth soundbar to the device?

Hi Guys,

I have a Skyworth 49G6A11T (49 inch UHD Android TV). It's been great up until the recent Android 8.0.0 firmware update. I cant seem to read my external HDDs after that. I can only play and view content if i use the native media player, if i use VLC, MX Player or any other player i get either blank/empty folders.

I've contacted Skyworth and their support has been absolutely terrible, they confirmed that it was because of the update and that i shouldn't have updated but why release an update that you dont want your users to download, it makes no sense. they suggested a factory reset but that didnt seem to fix anything except erase everthing on the TV.

I've tried searching online for solutions but have had no luck.

has anyone experienced anything similar, please help me.

Also, this one might be a bit of a stretch but, is there any way i could possibly play sound from my built in soundbar as well as via the Audio Jack via plug in speakers?
