Skyworth Binge TV Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

If Netflix requires the remote to have the Netflix button before giving Netflix certification, how would you get certification since the remote that came with the Binge box doesn't have said button?
Supply all your customers with a new remote seems unlikely.
If I read between the lines here, Netflix certification is not going to happen for the Binge Box.
Feel free to correct me in this regard.

Basically the Netflix button is a requirement only if a device leaves the factory with Android TV 8.x loaded ...

If you look at the Xiaomi Mi, it shipped with Android 6.0 (and thus, no Netflix remote needed) and was upgraded to Android TV 8.x while already in the field. It didn't *need* to have that Netflix remote, but it doesn't run Android TV 8.x now. Only when the Mi S shipped, it needed that remote.

Also the earlier Telkom LITs didn't have that remote, as they were upgraded - but there was a point they came from the factory, and needed to have that remote.

So it is probably to have a box certified and upgraded with the remote, but like Skyworth said, probably won't happen on this particular box.

How do I get an app to display on the main page or in the list?

Have installed an app, but I can only get to it from, Settings > Apps > select app > Open.

Install sideload launcher from the app store, then open it from the main screen to reveal all installed apps

Standing in Makro now wondering if I should buy the binge TV box.
Does Netflix work on it or not?

I have it working, BUT it's only the older Netflix apk for Tablet (have to side load version from apkpure or similar site) - requires wireless mouse or wand to work correctly

Same goes for Amazon Prime Video, although the remote works a bit better, but not 100%. I still use a Rii Wireless Air Mouse for both apps

For NetFlix, I'd rather skip the Skyworth box.
I'd rather get a LIT TV box, Mi-Box or Emantic box. If DSTV Now/ShowMax is not a consideration, a Amazon Fire TV stick would also be in my list.

As above NetFlix can be done , by jumping thru a few hoops. The same for DSTV Now/ShowMax on the Fire TV stick.

Decision is yours to make.

Grabbed on of these purely to run IPTV, works great. Netflix I already have on my smart TV at 4k ( its a vidaa smart so can't load anything else really.)

Anyone tried this box as a steam link device?

Hard pass for me.
The mi box is to be had for R300 more and no hassles

Yes, it works very well, but right click is mapped to "back" on Android TV by default, so unless you're using a gamepad, a mouse and keyboard can be hard. Also make sure your screen aspect ratio matches. Seems a bit tricky if not.

Is there a setting to not power up the box after load shedding. Once power comes back on the box also fires up.

@Skyworth Digital Support
My brand new (2 weeks old) Binge Box has been behaving badly, also confirmed with a friend that the device is not too happy with WiFi (LAN it does not behave this way)
It sometimes loses connection on WiFi, then you have to retry the connection multiple times - I am connected with other devices on the same WiFi AP with zero issues or drop-outs
Any suggestions ?

You could try changing the wifi channel nr on your router. Sometimes it gets interference from other wifi spots around you being on the same channel
