Hi All
I would appreciate some advice on setting up a 3g wireless router (TP-LINK MR3420 + Vodacom/Huawei K3765) as the default internet connection on a windows network.
We had an existing Windows 2000 Server. The windows server acted as the DHCP and DNS servers. Internet was via an IPCOP proxy using an Iburst pppoe connection. This worked well for our needs. The business subsequently shut down, but some infrastructure remains. I subsequently cancelled Iburst and with no one to maintain it, I decided to scrap the IPCOP proxy and opted for the TP-LINK + Vodacom 3g. I don’t have any networking skills.
I have disabled the DHCP on the TP-LINK and manually assigned an IP in a similar range to the rest of the network. I changed the default gateway supplied by the windows server to the TP-LINK’s ip address.
Its working, but not well. I often get DNS errors and the internet is generally slow. If I plug the modem directly into a PC it works fine, so it’s not signal related. I’m guessing its either some network setting or the router itself.
Any/All suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
