Slow Speeds

Maybe they just forgot to update the page...:p

BTW: Do any of you experience timeouts on the iBurst Network Status page? I'm currently viewing the one at www.iburstsa.co.za as that of the official site seems to be down?

Nope, still times out a few times and after the 5th click, it finally responds. This is the only page that does this.

After all my bitching it seems they have decided to give everyone in the CBD a static IP in the 70's range

Did they say that they were going to leave us on a static IP from now on or is this only while they are working on the upgrade.

If it stays like this then the bandwidth monitor does not update even if I disconnect and reconnect again.

No they gave no idea...

However, I assume it will only be temporary, untill they resolve the issue - if it can be resolved. You can contact Ed or Henry to request a static IP again, Henry is your best bet.

I've noticed that I now acheive faster speeds on one of the other UTD's on a 69 IP without an external antenna attached. But I'll stick with the 70 IP, rather slower speeds without disconnections.

I'm stuck on a static IP still and as far as I remember if you wanted a static IP it costs more per month.

How did you manage to change your IP from "70" to "69" as even now when I try it remains the same?

Not sure how they decided...

I assume they took a snap shot of the CBD towers (might only be Gardens) and gave all those that were connected at that time a 70 IP.

The other UTD I normally use when out at a client and testing the VPN connection and is not always connected.

Yeah you should be paying an extra R 200...

They can put me back on dynamic Ip as I'm not paying any more than I need to, besides the bandwidth monitor is stuck since they changed it to static.

In your case it's a different matter since it suits you to have static IPs' for your modems.

Cape Town down to a crawl again 09:30 21/11/06

Good morning

Seems we in for another day of slow access speeds, it's trailing at 128Kbps at present.

Apparently it is the Parow base station that is causing the issue.

Please call the helpdesk and voice your frustration.

I'm tired of this crap!

The new page isn't firefox friendly. "click for details' doesn't work. Works fine in IE. Info is also confusing and contradicting. Appears twice.....or am I stupid ?

This is typical of iburst, instead of replacing the faulty component or setting up whatever needs setting up they blame the base station.
One must wonder what type of "technicians" they have working for them, as far as I'm concerned they are totally useless and totally unprofessional in the way they approach any of the problems they have.

If they can't find the problem they should just replace the whole lot in that base station and work on the faulty components back at the workshop. But no, the idiots will rather tell their customers bs stories.

As for the helpdesk, well they are totally helpless and useless.

Well they are paying the price...

Two of my clients both on 9G accounts are stopping their debit orders this month.

If they don't have a shake up at iBurst soon, they are going to loose more clients.

PR and advertising only helps for a while, then you have to deliver and they aren’t. Can’t see a future for them in Cape Town if they continue in this manner.
