Everyone knows that there is problems at the moment with Virgin Mobile Data. Some of us gets constant disconnects and slow speeds.
I for one get disconnects in the evening say between 20:00 and 23:00 and in the morning between 07:00 and 09:00. Most of the other times it's fine with disconnects every now and then but not alot.
My speeds is fine. Mostly between 100kb/s and 180kb/s. Then there is times where I only get 20kb/s - 80kb/s.
I haven't had any problems with not getting connected at all.
I sent a e-mail to Rugan Naicker at Virgin Mobile yesterday. He assured me that they are working day and night to solve this problem. I believe them. I mean, do you guys really think they don't want us all to use their 50c/MB service?
I'll wait, just as I've waited for the 128k sim. We got the new sims, now just wait for the data issues to be solved.
Come one guys, don't be so hard on them. They are using Cell-C's service after all.
Hi piesang, have you fwd my details to VM yet, for the 128k card? did not get any call yet.
I'm currently have to keep my phone plugged in the power to charge, and that is why I went to get the Datacard.
ps: my connection is fine, although I only get gprs where I am, no disconnections ever.

But what if they told you that the tv was manufactured by Sony, would you still blame them or would you blame Sony in that instance.
I don't see any reason why anyone should switch over to the more expensive service when the problems do in fact lie with the more expensive service. I just want as many people as possible to know that they have the option of getting cheaper and better service by switching their phones to use only Cell-C's network.
Not absolve, but be understanding, they are offering the service at a quarter of the price after all. For me price counts 50% in a broadband offering so I am happy with the high speeds I get and don't expect it to be without problems. I am thinking of sending them an email informing them of the issue. Piesang, do you have the details of who I should contact?I agree with you and the more perople are informed about what's on offer the better, just don't think you can absolve Virgin/Cell C of responsibility for the problems on a service they're selling you.
Worked better for me last night too. But antivirus updates still takes donkeys years. Yahoo messenger worked ok too. Mail download into outlook express worked faster. Web pages still slower than before![]()
"Everyone knows??" They will by the time I'm finished...LOL..Everyone knows that there is problems at the moment with Virgin Mobile Data. Some of us gets constant disconnects and slow speeds.

Guys on hellpeter say it's takin a long time to organise the sim.I'll wait, just as I've waited for the 128k sim. We got the new sims, now just wait for the data issues to be solved.
I don't believe that is their main problem.Come one guys, don't be so hard on them. They are using Cell-C's service after all.
Your connection speeds are much better than mineWhat anti-virus do you use? I use AVG and it just updated @ 4.3KB/s,nice and fast. But i wont stress too much if the speed degraded,at least it is now Usable!! And it is faster than i got @ VC,and way cheaper! The constant data stalls etc etc made Virgin almost unusable, now i can (ab)use it again.
Even if the speeds dropped to a VC-level,it would still be a great offer @ 50c..or kinda.
Your connection speeds are much better than mineI also use avg. The speed starts of around 4 kB/s then just withers down to 200 b/s or less. The other thing is when i sent an email with an attachment it seemed to upload much faster than the download speeds i was getting. I have to use opera mini on my phone to view this site. Takes very very long on pc if it loads at all

Try Vodacom during peak on gprs. They should GIVE their internet at a discount because it only works off-peak. I still don't get the "Internet full" thingy. If their towers are saturated you shouldn't be able to connect at all, but there is a connection, it's just that there's a "leak in the pipe" somewhere. Also it shouldn't cut off existing connections. It should just slow down gradually and instead it goes from full speed straight to dead. It's "missing internet" like someone unplugged it to do some maintenance. I just wish they would keep their personnel informed.Sounds VERY erratic to me and disconnects at peak time when you want to use it most. Methinks they are getting their internet at a discount because it only works off-peakOh and I have experienced more than once NO CONNECTION at all. "Internet full" says Virgin.
Same symptom I get on Opera sometimes, which gets corrected after a restart of Opera. It seems that some applications are waiting endlessly for lost packets to arrive not being able to send more until they do. Try downloading the updates manually if that's possible. You might be surprised to get up to 15KB/s. My upload speed alone is ~3KB/s although speedtest to london reported it to be 14.7 with a peak of 16.Your connection speeds are much better than mineI also use avg.
