Hi All,

Just looking for advice here. My wife works for a small accounting company with 10 users. Their IT company has set their systems as such.

Intel Xeon Server with server 2010 standard running their accounting software, website hosting and email exchange. the problems they have the server is not on UPS when load shedding and also when giving problems the everything goes down. The company then loses all emails that people try to send to them.

My suggestion was to move the website and email hosting to a dedicated hosting company then they will have much better reliability. Their IT Company says that this is not a good idea and suggests they add the MWeb Mail Marshal as this will increase their security and will also solve the solution of them not getting emails when the server is down.

Can you please give your suggestions/Comment? I thought mail Marshal was just a fancy filtering server and doe not store emails...or am I wrong?

Marshal does a 7day Mail Spool if the destination is offline,so it's a valid suggestion. I don't know about their uptime guarantees though, there are international services with local points of presence like Mimecast

The web site is accessible externally and is on the same server as the accounting software? Sounds like a security nightmare. Sure hope there is a backup strategy in place. Rather put the web site and mail spooling on an external server and pull mail down to exchange. Get a UPS for the server to and have it shutdown when a power loss signal is received. The UPS doesn't have to be big, just enough time to shutdown successfully. Sure hope it doesn't start doing windows updates when shutting down ....

Hosted Exchange, then you have backups, mail in sync with all devices, you can do branding or mail archiving for 10 years, etc...

Hi Agent_B, We can offer mail spooling and filtering on our SpamExperts cluster - drop us an email or PM me for further details.

Hi Agent_B, we offer 5Gb OpenXchange mailboxes for R7.50 pm. With a 30 day money back guarantee and compatibility with mobile devices, social media and all major mail clients this is perfect for small businesses like your wife's.

PM me for details.

Tell them to get mail catchall and Dyn has a good Email Backup MX.

It's understandable that the company doesn't want to invest in a UPS to keep the server going, atleast
they should invest in the backup MX for the mails. That way the mail won't be lost.
