Why? My 2021 Apple 4k tv get every update and everything works.
 
@Dolby I had a look, on Google, and seeing 4th and 5 Generation Apple TV devices as being released in 2022, not sure I am understanding this.

Apple TV have the below ... maybe they're continuing with the old generation, so 4th gen = HD and 5th gen = 4K 1st gen?

1st Gen = 2006
2nd Gen = 2010
3rd Gen = 2012
4th Gen / HD = 2015

Then they jumped to 4K and had :

4K 1st Gen = 2017
4K 2nd Gen = 2021
4K 3rd Gen = 2022

The Apple TV 4K (1st Gen) can't FaceTime :( Even though the hardware is more capable than the phones that ran it years earlier. Interesting to note is that all three devices have 'the latest tvOS' and 'supported for many years', but differer in features.

It makes you wonder what'll be left off the latest 4K 3rd Gen that they hardware - more powerful than a PS5 - can't handle?
 
Try the Onn from Walmart. The new version (2024) has 32GB + 3G, has a built-in speaker and Google Assistant, and a find my remote feature. The one from 2023 is selling on Takealot for just under R1000 and is very similar spec-wise to the original Google Chromecast with Google TV (4K one from 2020; aka GCCWGTV) but costs far less. If you can get a pal to bring the 2024 version from the US, with taxes, you could get it for about R1100: it beats the GCCWGTV spec-wise and price-wise.

I think he is only now starting to process what you are saying, and what it means.

You may have to wait another 10 years, tho. Tho you may get lucky, and he has an Eureka moment - and gets there in a flash.

You know most people have lives and just go watch something on tv. We do not go sit with a bottle of cream and tissue box in front of the tv and get joy because we think the pixels are now clearer or sound is better?
Luckily I don't have the 1st gen 4k tv. If you found out that I have never Facetime on my phone, never mind my Apple tv, you would get another heart attack. But I bet anything you Facetime on your tv every day.

It is actually quite simple. Every time there is an update, my Apple tv actually updates.
