Hey All,

I am moving to Jackal Creek over the weekend, and Smart Village is used as ISP. I understand the connection uses PPPoE, and I want to setup my network but I`m not sure how.

I have a Linksys WAG120N ADSL router, and I was hoping I can use this router as access point to the network. I did notice on the web-interface that you can set the connection to PPPoE, and on another tab you set the 1st LAN port to be used as WAN connection.

Will it be as simple as setting the connection to PPPoE, setting my credentials and changing the LAN port to be used for WAN? Is there any other settings I will have to look at?

I`m really hoping that my current router will be sufficient. Any feedback will be appreciated.

Thank You

You will probably need MTU speeds as well.

Easiest is to just ask Smart-village for they details you need.

Smartvillage will set up a Mikrotik RB750 with all the pppoe settings. They will not even provide you with your PPPoE login details...

Thanx for the feedback guys.

I am going to try and set up using my current router, and if I have any luck I will post the details.

Otherwise I'll probably have to buy a router from them

Technically your router will work, but it depends on SmartVillage's policy. Some ISP's like to keep all their CPE's the same for easier management & troubleshooting.
