Because it's an extra cost and not all countries are subject to smash and grabs. Actually, most of the countries aren't so why would they bear this extra cost ?

Because it's an extra cost and not all countries are subject to smash and grabs. Actually, most of the countries aren't so why would they bear this extra cost ?

I should get lumar put on. I was quoted R1300 for all windows from glassfit a while back. Might not be a bad option seeing as a drive a polo

Used to keep a dagger right next to where the seatbelt goes in. Only used it once when some dumb fuk tried something near the Rossouw street offramp. Stabbed the guy in the hand and managed to get away. My wife insisted I stop the practice??? Guess she was worried about the legal aspects. Now, I keep a wheelwrench nearby. One of those with the sharp end on one side.
Used my fist once, when locked out of our car in a remote location. Was much easier than I'd expected.

Where on earth do you get that nonsense from? How is that so many seem to think that anyone can simply walk up to your stuff and take it and there is nothing that you can do?

Happened to my wife and daughter (1.5months old at the time) on the 6th of Dec last year on William Nicol onramp going towards Monte Casino.
4 guys were walking between the cars acting like beggars.
Smashed the window, took the baby's nappy bag + Galaxy note + Galaxy star + purse etc.
I was driving infront of her at the time it happened, tried jumping out the car but the seatbelt trapped me and then it was too late, came home and the wife and baby was full of scattered glass.
Apparently opening the windows slightly (1 - 5mm) will make it a lot harder for the window to break.
Now the wife is too traumatized to drive anywhere, and everytime a beggar comes near her car she starts freaking out
If I had the money I will create a bomb, place it inside a fake handbag, and as soon as the oke runs away I will push the detonator, damn I hate these people, they don't deserve to live.

I Know of a guy who has a half jack of whiskey in his cubby and in the wife's hand bag, he has added some rattax to it. So who ever takes a shot will have a bit of a rough time I assume.

Yeah it makes the window more flexible when hit. I always have my front windows open an inch.

I dont for a moment think you are magically immune.

My car has 4 doors and I only open the front windows slightly when driving. I never keep anything I'd hate to lose on the back seats, nor the front ones for that matter.
If I ever have to go into a mall from work I'll always take the laptop (from the boot) in with me, or leave it at home first.
Edit: I doubt they'll break the rear windows to grab something in the front whilst you're in traffic. I will never suggest parking and leaving the windows slightly open and walking away from the car.

From two incidents about 3 months apart, I doubt that the film makes smashing a window any more difficult. I'd say that the only benefit that it offers is that is reduces the amount of light passing through the glass and it holds the broken glass 'together'. But is isn't any easier or more difficult to break the window.
