Is there local SMC support? Anyone have a number maybe. I bought this router at Sahara and their SMC support guy does not even know what XBOX Live is :(

I have a SMC7904WBRA-N router and Im about to throw it out the window!

I am having problems joining games on Xbox live. Here is what I have tried:

Router on default settings:
Xbox set to DHCP - NAT is OPEN - Can join some games.
Xbox with Static IP - NAT is STICT - Can join any games.

I opened ports 88,3074 on TPC and UDP under Virtual Server on the router.
Made sure I used the same IP address for static as what DHCP assigns.
Xbox set to DHCP - NAT is OPEN - Can join some games.
Xbox with Static IP - NAT is STICT - Can join any games.

Tried port triggering and can only select TCP or UDP on ports 88,3074.
Tried first on TCP and then UDP and have same results.

I placed the Xbox IP under DMZ.
Now I cant even get onto LIVE. MTU Failed error.

I emailed SMC (europe I assume) and they are clueless. I think they know less than me and I am useless.

Any info please :)

What is your exact problem? If your NAT is open you should not have any problems.

I am having problems joining games on Xbox live. Also cant accept private chat requests. When hosting some people also cant join my games. And my NAT is OPEN.

sounds more like an ISP problem .... who are you with and have you spoken to them to try sort out the issue?

Mephisto, im with telkom - DoBroadband 4mb line
I got another router to try out (Telkom Marconi Premium Combo), will give that a bash tonight

I have a SMC router but since I use an unshaped account on my xbox decided to take advantage of the auto bridging and just entered all my ISP account details into the 360 and connect that way.

Let us know how it goes, I've the Premium combo which is actually a Premium piece of rubbish, I might upgrade.

Could be your ports, make sure you open the following to your xbox:

udp 88
udp/tcp 3074

Denouncer, got those open, check first post for the options I tried.

Sorry, missed that. Is a bit odd that you can actually connect to Xbox Live and then your problems start. As you say, your best bet would be trying another router to see if it makes a difference.

Maybe a ps3 would work.

NEVER hehehe, I had one and sold it to buy a Wii. I aways end up buying the xbox titles anyway, dont like the PS control anymore. BUT, I dont have anything against the PS3, I think the machine is awesome :)

lol, I hope that you get it sorted, there is nothing worse than not being able to play the games you love.

Good luck with it ;)

*GH ps3 fanboy, lol
