Snapcraze, Legit?

I ordered Samsung s22 ultra from snapcraze on friday evening and they delivered yesterday (Tuesday) morning. I paid extra R100.00 to use debit card for payment instead of using EFT.

Received my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra this moring, with ICASA sticker on the box and on the phone. And Vodacom bloat ware on the Phone, I am not even with Vodacom...
So this phone is definitely meant for the South African market. not a grey import.

They're defs legit, as I got my S22 Ultra from them and I successfully claimed my Galaxy Buds + R10000 cash back from Samsung

@phat55 .Can you explain the process for the cash back. I dropped Samsung a message and they claimed that Snapcraze is not an authorised reseller .

I too succesfully clamed R7000.00 using IMEI of an s22 ultra ordered from snap craze. At no point did I have to tell samsung from whom did I buy the phone.

I ordered a S21+ 5G, they phoned and said they are out of stock, and offered a free upgrade to the S22+ 5G. so far so good.
@safejack they called me from 032-648-0057, which matches the number on their website

Nice , also had awesome service from them, would recommend them

EDIT: As Snapcraze is busy helping me with this issue, and are very forthcoming, I am removing this post and giving them the benefit of the doubt. I will provide an update once the situation is resolved. In the mean time, I do not think that they are fraudulent, and commend them on the customer service they've offered me.

I guess I will be chastised for not being a regular poster, but I'll post my experience with Snapcraze.

My brother-in-law bought a S21 Ultra dual sim from the last year. He was happy with the service. This year I bought a S22 Ultra dual sim in May.

My B-in-L had found one Friday in September that his found had been blacklisted by MTN. Someone reported his SIM1 IMEI as stolen and it was blacklisted. That was suspicious, but because Snapcraze had issued an invoice with the incorrect IMEI number, they replaced his S21 with a S22 Ultra.

On Friday this week, 28 October, I lost function of my main sim. MTN confirmed on Saturday that the phone had been blacklisted. I have asked them about reversing the blacklisting, and sent an invoice with the IMEI number.

I am posting this because the red flags are real. I have requested information on who reported it for blacklisting. I hope to figure this out. I was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience?

It’s due to Insurance fraud, someone got hold of the imei numbers and used them to submit a false insurance claim.
What do you mean by “Snapcraze had issued an invoice with the incorrect IMEI number”?

In order to get his phone un-blacklisted he wanted to use his invoice from Snapcraze to prove his purchase, but the invoice indicated the incorrect IMEI number. Don't know if phones were switched at some stage during the sale.

My invoice indicates the correct IMEI so hopefully I am able to get it sorted. But I'm going to try to get information on who reported the phone as stolen.

Syndicates somehow get access to the imei numbers from insiders, it’s quite widespread, there’s a few threads on Mybb discussing the issue.

Ashleigh this issue with imei numbers of new devices getting blacklisted is quite widespread, it’s not unique to phones purchased from snapcraze, what actually happens that these phones are being blacklisted like this?

Hi @airborne

That is correct. Almost every Smartphone dealer deals with an issue of blacklisting at some point due to a number of reasons. Smartphones are the only items stores can actually block & make the user aware of such activity - unlike laptops, fridges etc where you can claim insurance or have it stolen from you & not be able to do anything that prevents usage of the item. Meaning as a store we have recourse if we aren’t paid in full or if stock is stolen. To give you the bigger picture; some of the reasons a device can be blocked/ blacklisted:
  1. The most straightforward being the device could be stolen (stores will blacklist devices stolen from them within 24-48 hours from theft & submit a claim to insurance)
  2. Wrongful blacklisting - a device is blacklisted via an IMEI number, as such; should the inputted IMEI be incorrect this can result in an unintended device being blacklisted
  3. Insurance fraud - anyone can submit a claim on their home insurance for example for “stolen” goods & use IMEI numbers that are illegally obtained from store staff etc. We work with insurance companies who have detailed paying out prematurely only finding out later that the IMEI on a claimants invoice was never registered to them in the first place. The owner of the IMEI then scrambles around to whitelist the device they rightfully own
  4. A device was traded in by an individual/ company & the original owner either claims insurance on it or purchased on credit & has not paid in full for the item - in this case a purchase-sales agreement can sometimes protect the store & their client. For this reason, we don’t accept trade ins from private individuals unless the unit was originally purchased from us or unless a store we work with trades stock for models they need that we have on hand. However selected stores do accept traded units & cover themselves with a purchase-sales agreement as mentioned above
  5. A device (IMEI) was allocated before dispatch & a different one packaged in the warehouse for dispatch
All of the above considered; we would need to check the IMEI & whitelist the unit or replace the unit depending on the circumstances. It is not a pleasant experience for both client & store; however we will do our best to assist our client & ensure they are happy in the end. We wont turn them away without a resolution

Sim 1 on my Samsung S21 also stopped working about 2 weeks ago. Also appears to be blacklisted and I also bought it at Snapcraze in June last year. I have not yet had time to take it to Samsung but it suddenly started working again 3 days ago.
Hi @Stonemason if a device is blacklisted it is completely network barred permanently. Network would not be restored intermittently or at a later stage. This sounds more like a hardware issue which either we or a Samsung service centre can diagnose & assist with. What is your order number?

Funny, Google Partner directory doesn't show them as a partner (claimed by the craze dude last year).

What would it mean if they are a Google partner?
Dunno, some vetting process behind it it would seem ... but everyone trying to "prove" they are legit throw "Google Partner" around, so I guess it is supposed to mean something, but yeah, they not, so I don't know :)
