What is the difference between snapscan and masterpass?

and which is the preferred app to use?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure that it's about which is preferred. It's more about which is convenient / available. Used to visit places that only had snapscan so I used that. However with my card now loaded on my phone to tap I seldom bother with snapscan anymore.

No apple device lol - I know you are an Apple fan ;)

I see these apps recommended by most banks...
What are most banks, you make it sound as if there is a whole plethora of banks in the country, but there is only 4 banks in the country:
1. FNB
2. Nedbank
3. ABSA
4. Standard bank

They all support Apple pay so I would suggest getting yourself an iphone and use apple pay, it is also by far the safest option and has the best customer service.

Snapscan and Masterpass were obsolete before they even hit the market.

Nope. Have used Snapscan plenty the last few years. Especially markets and coffee shops. Still use Snapscan to buy electricity. Snapscan was very successful imo.

Everything they offer I could do on my highly coveted FNB app so I never saw a need for them. But i guess it just wasn't for me.

If someone emails me an invoice & I can scan to pay using the FNB app, I almost enjoy spending money. Else I’ll just “get to it later” :cautious:
I see FNB is the only bank that does not have a masterpass app, this is mostly probably because you can do it via the FNB app. Not sure other banks apps can make payments directly using QR codes...
