Was told by iStore Sandton that Family Pack only available "sometime" next week....

Thankfully I have someone that is bringing it from the US for me!:)

I picked up my copy from digicape @ the wedge this afternoon. There were about 15 left on display - not sure if there were any more left @ the back. There arent that many copies in S.A, so i would suggest u rush and get it.

Picked mine up from the iStore Sandton, they had a whole bunch on the shelves, and it was dead empty. Only one other guy was buying SL.

Intersting! I went there after work and the shelf had one left until the guy brought a whole pile from the back room! I was in the shop for about 30 mins contemplating a MacBook pro and everyone who came in bought a copy of snow leopard! They must have sold 20 while I was there! Well, 21. My copy is on my desk hehe!

That is weird, cause when I got there I wondered if they were even open....The one guy even had to go call the sales guy from the back to come ring up my SL. I was there @ 4, dunno what time you went.

Anyway on the note of SL, the speed increase is instantly noticeable, mac seems to be running much smoother.

So to quell the rumors... can you do a clean install with the upgrade disc alone?

Yes you can, SL is big enough to warrant a fresh installation. In the installer go to disk utilities and format the drive. It's been reported that some feature's are missing after the upgrade. i.e. Photobooth, Effect's second window does not have the new feature of customizing the effect if the system has been upgraded instead of re-installed from scratch.

odd - my mbp seems to be slower after SL. Think im gonna have to wipe the drive clean and do a fresh install...

A question - what is stopping someone using Tiger from buying Snow Leopard and doing a fresh install?
