As an assistant professor, I taught during the day and did research at night. I would usually take a break around eight, however, to play the strategy game Warcraft online with a teammate.

One night I was paired with a veteran of the game who was a master strategist. With him at the helm, our troops crushed one opponent after another, and after six games we were undefeated. Suddenly, my fearless leader informed me that his mom wanted him to go to bed.

"How old are you?" I typed.

"Twelve," he replied. "How old are you?"

Feeling my face redden, I answered, "Ten."

I know the feeling :o

Last night I played my Warrior which is lvl 31 and went into SM Lib. These guys in my group where playing like pro's they got everything 100% spot on and worked as a hard tuned army squad. About 45 minutes in no wipes and pure bliss this one guys asks " So where you all from, how old are you? " It starts ringing out, 12- UK, 15 - France, 11 - Spain, 14 UK..... I keep quiet. So they ask me, "And you ?" "I'm from South Africa" .... "O ok nice" "how old are you ?" "28" I say

all is quiet

about 2 minutes later, "Are you serious" ......"Yes :o"

"Nice, my step mom is 26" someone said.

I felt like a Ballie :D

im 25, there is this 60yr old in our guild and he hardcore haha..

sons been playing WoW since he was 8, and ultima online since he was 5 (but stopped now in favour of WoW)
you have no idea how many times this actually happens, he knows now to just say "19" if anybody asks, because people do change when they realise he is such a youngster.

100% spot on.

When that priest yesterday said SHE's 11. I thought that is bloody impossible. Prob the best healer I have seen pre lvl 70. And if I knew that before we went in SM I would prob have not gone :o

No one in our guild is below 18 years of age.
The group I raid with we have a few people aged 17-19 though. I am 29, and so is most of the people I usually team up with.

You dont stop playing because you get old, you get old because you stop playing.

30 and still kicking ^^

My son so badly wants to play, but I have not let him yet as he is only 9. Am I wrong then? He did finish Shadow of the Colossus on his own :o

Nothing wrong with him playing 1 hour a day IMO. Much better than TV :p:D

But make sure he plays outside aswell.

When I am asked that question in a group I usually say, well my son is the lock and my wife is the Healer thats generally enough to change the subject.

I was in a guild with a 14 year old and he was WAY better at the game than I will ever be. I know he got quite a lot of grief about his age from other players but I just treated him like he was an adult and he appreciated it.

No matter how old the player is its all about the quality of the player not their age. Maybe I feel this way because I know that as much as I enjoy the game I will never be more than an OK player and I'll take help from wherever it comes. Stuff the age, in fact at 38 I'm more likely to be discriminated against than a 11 year old....

our guild leader is 35 years old raid leader 22 , our main tank being 16 and top paladin being 14=) they all raid equally hardcore and are equally skilled, age doesn't matter that much in this game to be honest its mostly the old kids that think they know all and yet they know nothing=)

we also had a 70+ granny playing a hunter, her grandson being one of the druids, but she quit the game after her husband died =(
