Well heres the update.

I was off on Saurday but Eugene (sales guy) was in store.

Eugene tells me Wayne came in on Sat, but when Eugene asked him for the R600 (discounted) fee for job as agreed upon numerous times (in this forum as well) his wife said no they want the job done first.

Obviously Eugene said no, pay first then the job will be done. (they already got us once)

Eugene has been lied to (regards to spark plug by Wayne)
I have been lied to by Wayne and his Daughter (alleged attorney I have lodged a formal complaint with the law society of South Africa)

These seem to be very interesting people!!!

I guess the world is made up of lots of people, some just try there luck but one thing is for sure Right of admission laws apply and Wayne will now never be allowed to step foot in my store.

So the saga continues

last time they agreed to pay, I got a phone call from the daughter saying they where not going to pay, why should i believe them this time.

The hassle of doing the job and then if they dont pay holding on to the bike in leiu of payment just complicates it even further.

keeping someones keys and there bike brings up other issues if the customer feels he is in the right you can not just keep his bike (that would be theft)
I would have to goto court to get the money out of him. after he has the bike with the job already done!

The job was already done (7 Hours spent), it was just the tappets that needs to be set ( +-2days after the job this must be done)

I have received no payment from the job so far just hassles and lies.

I agree Leave this thread till this problem is solved by that I mean Wayne pays the R600 this Saturday or we go to court.

All this information in the thread will be very usefull in court.

I still stand by all that I have said and still believe I have done nothing wrong.

Hi Niccia the 125cc scooter is R8150 that includes License,Registration and a 2 year or 40 000km warranty, We accept cash, credit card or do in house finance (need you ID,payslip & 3 months bank statements)
It is the bigger scooter with a 13" Rim.

And of course I will give you a free 2 year or 40 000km service plan (from this thread) (free services)

Wayne I am not working on Saturday but have told Eugene you will be coming in and he must arrange for the tappets to be set, please note we open from 9am to 1pm although allow us an hour to do the job.

Maybe Wayne is expecting his bike to be in good running order before handing over any cash.

Merely setting tappets will not resolve the hard starting, and what about the oil leak?

I think a summary would help - what was the bike taken in for - what was done - what is the current state - is the oil leak as a result of the recent work done - why wasn't the oil leak corrected with the head job - what is needed to get the bike back in good running order and cure the oil leak?

I have been to China a few times visiting lots of different motorbike factories, all the motorbikes or scooters look similar but each factory orders different quality parts so the quality differs.

Some I went to did not even have a quality control check after the bike is assembled. We eventually decided on the Haotian brand because of quality and backup.

What I suggest when buying a chinese scooter or bike is to compare the quality of the parts on the bike itself.

I would also look at the warranty that someone offers you, but most importantly its about where you buy the bike from, as many motorbike shops simply sell the bikes but when you ask to see the spare parts they have none.

I recently sold a pair of mirrors to a customer who walked into the shop, he has a 110cc scooter he bought from Vuka yet he has been to all the shops including the head office in cape town and they have all said to him they have no mirrors, he also got a fine for R300 driving whith out mirrors. (yes any shop can run out of spares, but surely they can source one locally for there customer)

One more thing is look at how often the bike needs to be serviced.

Our Service intervals are first 1000km then every 3000km, some people ask you to come in every 1000km thereby you end up spending a fortune on services.

In my opinion there are only a few "bad" scooters on the market but generally if you are happy with the store you buy it from then go for it, because at the end of the day that is who you will be dealing with if you need the bike serviced or had an accident.

I find it's pretty muddied at this stage.

Some things just don't gel - if the oil leak is from the head then why is it still leaking after the head job, and why is it still so hard starting.

If the bike was brought in for a service and whatever was needed to make it run well, then if it's not yet running well this may be the reason why Wayne does not want to hand over money.
Setting the tappets will not cure a hard starting problem, and would have a negligible effect on performance - it's only a few days since they were set at the time of the head job.

You wouldn't catch me voluntarily owning a Chinese scooter, but that's just me. I do have a huge problem with the quality of all these products out of China. Vespa tried to justify their much higher price by saying that they used a Steel frame on their scooters, so i suppose by that comment they're implying their scooters are "safer?" Safety is an arbitrary thing. If you get hit by a car or a bus nothing is going to be left of any bike, steel frame or not.
