So do any of you guys/gals run? I have a huge blister on my foot any cures? :( Plus when I do run I run as much as I can and then take like a 30 second breather and run again is that cool?:)

Spry if they are dumb questions :o

Wall / rock climbing for me -jogging no thanks

Careful of shin splints and those nasty things! Take it slow and don't push yourself too fast, too quickly.
A good way to get your stamina up is by running nice and fast for two lamp posts, then walking back one and repeat.
Make sure the walk is brisk. You don't want to let your muscles relax too much, but you want them to be able to get some oxygen back in 'em.
As I said, it's a good way to start off with and you only really want to do it until you're moderately fit so that you're able to run several kilometers without stopping, at a descent speed.

Dab a little methylated spirits on blisters. Stings like a bitch at first but they'll dry out much faster and you'll be on your way again. Helps to apply it when you feel it coming on, rather than once it's burst though.

Eish, the paining of the first week back on the track! :( :D

I can understand that you've started running. With global recession and coming fuel price hikes . . . save on petrol. Start running!

Korn1, it's good. Keep it up.

But, try to walk between bursts of running instead of stopping, because you need to build up your stamina, and walking will also exercise different muscle groups while you walk.

The blisters are a problem though.

You can do the army route: Go to a chemist, get some strong stuff to basically burn out the blisters and dry them out.

You can do the insanity route: Run in them till they're sore and bleeding with all the skin worn off, and then let the wounds heal for 2 weeks, leaving you with much stronger skin as the replacement.

You can do the human route: Let your existing blisters heal and get better running shoes. Though, sometimes no shoes will solve the problem. e.g. I run in leather sandals simply because my feet sweat and will blister quickly in any closed shoe.

Or you might realise that buying new running shoes and running in them was a bad idea!
Those puppies need to be broken in to your foot shape.
The best fix for blisters is to inject some methiolate(sp?) into them, it will fix them quick quick...
I agree with the whole fartlek thing, run fast for 2/3 and walk or run slowly for 1/3. It will burn more calories that way and your fitness levels will go up alot quicker.

But the most important is dont push yourself too far too soon. I have such bad shin splints these days from doing just that. Use shorter strides and build yourself up for distances.

What is shin splints?

I started jogging middle of last year and I have lost a lot of weight, but I'm gaining some weight again since I haven't jogged in 5 weeks, and I eat a lot .

 :( Please tell me you're joking? I started running on the treadmill about 3 weeks ago and my shins are killing me. It's getting slightly better, but I'm still limping after every session.

I had that once too. The doctor called it a form of compartment syndrome. It happens when you go too far, too fast. The supporting structures for your muscles need to adapt to be able to cope with the impact and things, not just your muscle. Taking it chill for a bit will do you some good.
Don't mess with it though as it can escalate to become a bit more serious, and pick up some anti-inflammatory stuff from the pharmacy.
