So I went to Capitec

Anyone else having a issue where you do a transaction at a paypoint and it goes through but it is not showing up on your app? I just went to the pharmacy and used Google Wallet and it went through but when I wanted to transfer the money from my savings to credit card the transaction not showing on my Capitec app. Did the transfer anyway and that also is not showing...even though it said successful. Weird.

Neither of the EFTs which I did today show up in my transactional account history, but the account balance has updated on my transactional account and credit account.

It looks like you have to go into a branch to close them, old school style.
I can confirm that you have to go into a branch.
Can’t activate the app because of a sim swap I did 4 weeks ago already. The security of these banks are just totally retarded now.
I also had this weird thing after an iPhone restore, couldn’t login or reset the password, just got some weird error, had to go into a branch.

This is one of Capitec’s biggest redeeming features, the branches normally have an abundance of consultants on duty and you hardly ever have to wait very long to get helped and they operate on normal 9-5pm buss hours.

There are no travel benefits on Capitec

1. No lounge access
2. No free hotel upgrades
3. No flight upgrades
4. They dont cover fraud on your account
5. There is no travel insurance

Honestly compared to say American Express Platinum or Black its not really worth it.

In the past year I got 5 free hotel upgrades to much nicer rooms. I also get platinum status or diamond status as many hotels.

Well even FNB lounge access is limited now. They do cover fraud as well.

Citation for not covering fraud please.

This shows that Capitec credit cards have travel insurance: https://www.capitecbank.co.za/personal/credit/travel-insurance/

Popped though to Zim for some work this week. Paid with the Capitec card at the border and, as expected, got the spot forex rate. Lovely stuff.

Different markets, what are the fees for the Amex Black vs Capitec? So not really a fair comparison.

Isn't this a good thing...protecting you from sim swap fraud?
Indeed. Though Capitec does not use OTP so not sure why they care if you had a sim swop done. I did struggle a bit getti g my app activated last year on my new phone. Wanted the selfie thing done and it would not work. Took a few days and then it went through. Might just have been Aussie with Home Affairs.

Going into one of their branches is not a big deal. Staff is friendly, efficient and short waiting time. Only reason I had to go I to a branch this year is because like a twit I thought the new credit card that they couriered to me to replace expiring one would have the same pin. I threw the letter that came with it and new pin number away. Had to go in and get pin reset. Took 5 minutes and it was done. Other than that I have not had to actually visit a branch in a very long time.
