So I went to Capitec

Swipe via virgin credit card, earn the capitec interest for 55 days. I win, Capitec loses.

Some may say I'm being petty, but I will not pay that new card fee on principle.

No thanks. Hate the VMCC internet banking site turning me into a moron everytime when I have to figure out the 4th 5th and 10th character of my password.
That's standard ABSA. Have to do it every morning when running the business ABSA bank statement so have become so used to it.

What is the purpose of this? The gold card is quite satisfactory
Yes could have just added an NFC chip. Black cards get lost in the background and will now look the same as the Woolies cards. Mine expires in 3 years and I don't need T&P so will wait.

Hope you extend this principle to everyone who charges for cards then, debit and credit.

Well, as he quite rightly said... It's not fair to charge a fee to replace an expired card. None of the big banks do that.
Only with some accounts. Even Tyme has a replacement fee listed. Capitec is still quite low. A lot of the big banks charge well over R100.

Yeah sure we could say it should be free but then rather inform the banks of this. Perhaps Tyme and Bankzero will byte getting the others to follow.

The sides of the card is either blue or red (Capitec logo colors) so pretty easy to tell it apart.

I think I mentioned this before. But my fnb and virgin cards were free to get replaced.

Yes the exceptions. Virgin is a anomaly as most actually include it in a monthly fee.

Well, I can tell you the R5 per month account with FNB doesn't even charge for the replacement of an expired card.

Same applies with my ABSA account. Expired card replacement is free.

Lost or stolen card, sure, but never for an expired card.

Like I said some accounts. What I take issue with is how Capitec is singled out when it's the norm. The issue with Capitec is they only have one account so people expect them to meet the lowest common denominator.

It's not the norm and your argument is badly flawed unless you can show us a full list of banks/accounts which charge for replacement cards because I might be wrong, but charging for a replacement expired card is the exception, not the norm

So you make a claim but I have to provide a complete list? Sweet. Do you see how flawed that is?

Yes it is the norm and it's always been. Things may be changing as of recently though. Standard and Nedbank charge over R100. Sorry but I don't see in their fees schedule that expired cards are an exception and not charged for.

Non of those accounts pay interest on money in your main account so they make their money back there.

I have never in my life had to pay for a new card after the old one expired, that includes Capitec.

Replacement for a lost or stolen card yes often had to pay.

No.

Capitec is wrong. (but actually you are because capitec does not charge money for a replacement of an expires card.)

No bank charges for a replacement only for a lost card.

The bank is required to give you a free credit card replacement when it expires.

This.

Expired cards are always replaced free of charge.
