Well according to the guys here they do. I was also charged last time.
 
Correct, I thought we are talking about credit cards here (because Virgin money was referenced) @Swa if you and the others talked about debit cards then my apologies.

Debit cards are always charged a replacement fee of which Tymebank is the cheapest at R40.

Credit cards are always replaced for free - because you are charged a monthly fee for one on top of your account fees and from this one of the "perks" are free replacements.

I have never been charged for my new Capitec debit cards when the old ones expired, maybe you guys that were charged got the simpleton that started work the day before you arrived and punched into the system: issue new card - reason/replacement and not issue new card - reason/expired

Most people are charged most of the time. If you weren't I guess you were just lucky as it's probably not an automatic transaction when they issue a card or it's your particular branch. The only time I wasn't charged was when I opened it.
 
So other than the design and colour of the new debit card, are there any advantages to getting the new card?

I think you were just unlucky, maybe something you should look into.

Capitec account fee R5, others are way more. Maybe if you can get a break down of their fees, you might see a card fee

It's no use, they don't get it. No card fee is a recent development as is these low cost accounts. They nail you in some other way like low or no interest. I'd rather pay for the card instead of having a hidden cost for it and end up paying more. Should in any case not matter if you don't throw away your cards often.

Capitec's interest rate is 1,5% lower than it was previously at a previous time that the prime rate was at the same level. They have been slowly decreasing the interest. (I posted some details earlier in the thread)

Yes, but by how much have the others reduced theirs? Some don't even pay interest on these new "cheap" accounts.
 
So, I'm looking at the payment history for a beneficiary and there are a whole lot of payments not reflected, on scratching a bit it looks like any payments that are made using the Future-dated payment option do not reflect on the payment history. Wierd and concerning. I rely on the payment history function a lot to check on what payments have been made and this means it is in accurate.
