In-app notifications –Receive free, realtime Money In and Money Out notifications.
Guess I'll have to test this. The app mentions sms notifications for money in and out and not in-app notifications.

Authentication for online payments is done via a ussd pop-up, once you download the new app

You don't need the app for that.

That used to be possible on the previous app, even if the linked simcard wasn't in the phone (as long as the phone had an internet connection)
After updating to the new app, it changes to the ussd authentication

iOS 13 messes with the login on an iPhone

I log in on my PC
A pop-up appears on the phone asking if I want to log in. I answer Yes
Then a window appears asking for a PIN
Before I can type, the window disappears and reappears
Several times (8 out of 10) the window bobs up and down, and my login is now incorrect
Have had to call Capitec 4 times now to get login unlocked
Find if I wait a few seconds before typing in, its ok, but I forget
If I wait too long, it assumes I don't want to log in, and exits

Can you not use the generate token password option?

Yep still getting SMS notifications and getting charged for it. They should've had it working with the new app at launch.

Been told to swap my gold debit card for a black one. Lady said there are numerous advantages, and said I can "tap" the card (?)

Is this an advantage? I don't know what it means. I also asked if it was free but got no answer

You have never seen other people just tap their card against a payment point instead of inserting it?

Debit card will always want a pin. Credit card (and I guess cheque cards) will not always want a pin.

Tap and Pin/Go is a just a faster transaction than Insert and Pin.

Just to add, it's R65 and then another R65 when that card expires. Rinse repeat.
So R65 now and then maybe if nothing changes you need to pay again in 5 years, maybe the policy changes but most people should be able to afford R65 every 5 years.

Yes, you could just wait for your current card to expire, pay the R65 then, you don't have to get a new one now

Never had a problem with the quality of their cards. Also last much longer than the silver on embossed cards.

My problem is that some shops' card machines stop reading the chip reliably...
