This is free at other banksI like Capitec's SMS notification system where details of any transaction above R100 is sent via SMS to you.
Will happily pay the SMS fees for that little peace of mind.
A private banker gives much better ratesMaybe he should try SA Home Loans. They sometimes will give a better rate to get your bond over to their side.
Std offers lotto via its app. Thas how the one guy won R120 million.Already with FNB and Standard.
Does Capitec have the option to buy Lotto and Instant Payments?
Only reason I have an FNB account at the moment albeit it's only R5 a month.
What do you mean when you say they won't help you in case if fraud? You went from one useless bank to another useless bank so you wont know the difference. Here is the thing with Capitec. Long queues, easier risk of fraud (just view them on hellopeter - and in fine print they wont help you and accept no responsibility).
The 2 best banks? Standard with its Ai is phenomenal. You want to borrow money. The Ai will instantly access your details and show you your best options. And you will have access in minutes (dont need to see a consultant). Yoy get bond aporoval alnost instantly as well ( FNB wait for their useless consultants). Also you can change any account to Pay as you Go. ) same yet cheaper than Capitec. And yes they cover you for fraud (which Capitec doesnt).
Nedbank is great. If youre a business person or investor. Theyre really helpful but its like using Woolworths over Shoprite. Their Professional Account is best with the Amex Platinum card. Great travel benefits and lots of freebies. Or their private wealth accounts. Great too. But like I said. They are the best if ure more private wealth or prof.
Absa has fallen badly. I used them when we still had bank books and a bit thereafter. Then tried FNB. To access any changes had to visit a branch. Then a consultant wanted tp talk me out of accessing my money or taking more than my limit. Fraud happened 4x on my accounts (never at std or nedb). FNB was useless other than blocking me from accessing it. As such I left them.
So well done to move from one useless bank to another. If you travel abroad you will discover both fnb and capitec is useless.
Can just buy lotto tickets from the lotto website.Std offers lotto via its app. Thas how the one guy won R120 million.

Already with FNB and Standard.

This is good to hear. I'm in the process of moving to standardMy worst internet banking experience is FNB. Honestly it totally sucks. Compared to Standard its brutally bad.
Its like using a Blackberry vs an Iphone honestly. And yes a BB10 phone.
Standard Bank is really simplistic and you dont have to search around for anything. And since its run by Ai, well everything is easy to change.

Go into your online profile and disable transaction notifications for receiving and paying.Any luck getting app notifications instead of SMSs?
App settings set to only receive notifications but the SMSs keep coming...
In the fineprint when you open an account, it says they will show no liability for fraud on your account, or would attempt to assist you in recovering any money stolen from your account. You really need to read the fineprint of contracts you sign. What do you mean when you say they won't help you in case if fraud?
Actually all banks by law must stop your account if it wasnt FICA'd thats the law. Welcome to the FICA act. I have never had standard bank block my account other than when buying crypto. they blocked my account and then called me 5 minutes later and unblocked me.No, fraud is not easier with Capitec, in fact they have been the most secure for the longest time (never has SMS OTPs). Scammers do indeed use Capitec, but that's because their instant ETFs have always been cheap and still the cheapest generally.
And you bring in Standard Bank, which disables accounts willy nilly due to FICA without having the decency to even SMS the SIM linked to the online banking? Really who you want to recommend? Capitec at least sends you a SMS when you have to be reFICAd. So, in conclusion I take your recommendation with a grain of salt. I've been with Capitec for 12 years now and hardly any issue, while Standard Bank in 3 years gave me more issues that Capitec in 12.

Nedbank is the best though. Amex calls you at funny merchants abroad to confirm it's you. They call the merchant and ask for you before they allow it thru.

Really go read hellopeter.... You will find lots like the 2 below. Anyone can withdraw money at a shoprite or checkers with knowing just your account number too.

Useless Bank!!
With regards to reference **********2, I am very disappointed with this bank. I reported a fraudster timeously, they failed to stop this account and more people were defrauded by this fraudster. I am going to gather everyone who lost their money after this account was reported. Capitec will have to reimburse everyone since this is their own neglegance.
Pathetic Service from Capitec Bank regarding fraudulent transactions!
To Whom This May Concern, I have logged a complaint on the 27th October 2020, with capitec regarding a fraudulent transaction that went off my account at 12h00. I was told that I need to pay R70 inorder for me to get my money back, and it takes 3-5 working days, which I accepted. Till date I have not received any feedback nor my funds back from Capitec. I have made numerous calls to the client care centre and have been hearing they are still working on the transaction. I have called once again today and was told that they are trying to locate the person who was responsible for this transaction. +- 3 weeks down the line clearly this is pathetic and inefficient service from Capitec. Other banks have a turn around time of 24 - 48 hours regarding fraudulent transactions and Capitec has over a month! This type of pathetic service clearly entertains fraud, given the fact that fraudsters can continue transacting off innocent clients and the Capitec takes forever to solve the issue if not clamp down on fraud. I am entirely disappointed in the service Capitec has offered. I want this issue to be resolved in 24 hours! The company that transacted my account does not even exist in South Africa! So does it take +- 3 weeks for Capitec to resolve this?????????? I have been given a contact number for the frauds department that never goes through and an email address for the cards dispute department that comes back undeliverable!
No they can't. And no bank can indemnify themselves against fraud. What they can indemnify themselves against is you not protecting your account details. I know, I read the Ts&Cs and they don't indemnify themselves against fraud. In the fineprint when you open an account, it says they will show no liability for fraud on your account, or would attempt to assist you in recovering any money stolen from your account. These accounts were FICA'd. Standard insisted they must be FICA'd again but never informed anyone. In 12 years Capitec only asked that once and they informed me way in advance. When my mom opened an account she didn't have any FICA documents. I just signed a form she was living with me.Actually all banks by law must stop your account if it wasnt FICA'd thats the law. Weird have 3 sub accounts not in use for a few years now and that hasn't happened to me yet.Capitec blocked some of my accounts, except the main account, twice already to re-FICA without notifying me.
The reason was that there has to be some movement on these accounts or they have to FICA again.
