What launchers do you guys and why?

I don't mind a paid one if it's awesome enough. I know of go launcher and will try that this evening.

Using free Apex launcher myself. Quite happy with it

SA? Never used a launcher myself, been very happy with the plain Xperia setup to be honest.

Nova. Its slick, very functional & fast.

Edit: haven't used apex but I heard its as good.

PS gestures on Nova are awesome.

Give Nova Launcher a try. If you like it, buy Nova Prime as it gives you quite a few useful additions, like gestures. I can't imagine using a launcher without gestures:

- Double tap or swipe up to put the phone to sleep.
- Swipe Down anywhere on the screen to expand notifications (useful for one-handed use of with these big phones).

I use the Google Now Launcher on my Nexus 7. Although this is only available to Nexus devices through the Google Play store, you can download the APK from the internet (just search for it). It works just fine on the S4. The only reason I don't use it on my phone is because of the lack of gestures.

You'll still have to deal with some Touchwiz (like Settings), but it mostly gets out of the way once you switch to a decent launcher. Let us know what you like best.

Nova or Apex for me. GoLauncher has some funky lockskreen features and transition effects.

I'm using Apex due to the low memory footprint and stock Android experience.

Anybody tried Buzz launcher?

Is your phone up to date?

What's wrong with the stock one?

It's actually pretty smooth (at least if the phone is up to date), but the layout and look does not appeal to many people, myself included. It is also not nearly as customizable as many alternatives.

I've tried a bunch of the most popular ones and I have to say Nova Prime for sure.

Coming from an Xperia S that was very stock I actually find touchwiz to be quite refreshing and stock enough for me in all the usual places.

OK, I have to ask because I have never been able to figure it out...

What is this launcher everyone talks about on the Andriods? The "desktop" interface?

Absolutely, there are no major issues with Touchwiz. That off-center app drawer just irritates my eye :)
