So I bought this Asus LCD but unfortunately it malfunctioned so I've had to send it back to Take2. I sent an inquiry about the problem to Asus technical support and this is the reply I got.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for contacting ASUS Customer Service.

My name is ***** and it is my pleasure to help you with your problem today.

Hi , Alan, what's the bleeding you want to mean? Do you mean dazzling? First, please press Splendid key on LCD about 3 seconds to load the default settings for a test.

If you still have any problem or the problem still exists, please feel free to contact me.

Thank you for the support!

Best regards and have a nice day!

WTF

:D

I said I was experiencing severe back light bleeding on the bottom left corner of the monitor.

Dont worry - I bought a 22" Samsung from Sahara, after about a week and a bit I noticed there was a lot of backlight bleeding, phoned Sahara, they said I must phone a company called C.R.T., I took the monitor to them, they said it'd take 3-days, phoned back 7-days later, get told they can't give me an ETA as they are waiting for parts from Samsung, I told the woman that no ETA is not acceptable, she said if I'm not happy I must phone the company I bought it from, phoned Sahara, Sahara tell me to phone C.R.T. and speak to the manager, which I do, he tells me they have 21-days from Samsung. Great. Then he says if the parts haven't arrived from Samsung in 21-days, they can request a swop-out, which Samsung usually doesn't respond to...

****ing Sahara crap, last time I'm buying Samung anything.

I had a similar problem (at least I thought so) on a 19" HP screen. After a while I realized that it is intermittent. I then had to change screens and found the same intermittent problem on a Samsung 22" screen (brand new). Realized that it happened with certain XP background pictures and could also be Graphics Card related. Point is it was not the screens.

What does bleeding look like? Any screenshots perhaps?

Interesting. Mine is also intermittent in terms of severity

Well take2 are normally great. Informed them of my problem and the next morning the couriers were here free of charge to take it back. If they don't replace it or have it fixed then I'll be pissed

There is a sticker on the top that says Splendid but as for a key

I am considering getting a Samsung 2232GW, so what should I be aware of before making the decision and purchase? Buy from a vendor that has a physical shop for me to bug when there's a problem? What's this bleeding problem, any picture of actual problem?

See the pictures above... ask to test it in store, preferable in the back somewhere where you can make it dark.

Backlight bleeding is normal for LCDs. 99% of LCDs have it, some worse than others but all of them have some sort of backlight leakage. There was a guy that took his LCD apart and sealed the edges properly and put it back together and the backlight bleed was gone. If you're willing to do some DIY you could get rid of the bleed on your own. :D

Does that work? Cause I tried with a piece of paper... or is there a glass sheet infront of the LCD?

Sorry I missed that reply. I will see what I can do. Anyone know if PC International opens on Saturdays?

Good, will go with friend before month end to check out 2232GW.:D Any pics/tools I can use to run test on LCD?

The eyes are probably your best bet. Look for bleeding and dead pixels. Other than that, I can't imagine anything to serious that you'll need software for.
