Well, erm... not a part of the forum I visit often... But I do need to share something with the rest of the inmates in the asylum.

If all goes well, our son will take his first breath tomorrow. I'm nervous as all hell, but excited beyond words. I am also grateful to MyBB for providing a platform upon which I could interact with a vast array of ideas - and the people who hold them - over a good, long time. Even if I know the majority of regulars only by anonymous screen names, many of you have left indelible marks on my being. A collective 'thank you' for contributing to my being able to look to the future with hope, joy and cautious optimism.

I will teach my son things you might not agree with, and I might approach some riddles of parenthood in ways that would horrify you, but I'll not do so rashly or without forethought. Most importantly, for as long as this heart keeps beating, I will be the safety net of support and comfort my family deserves.

As you were.

*sniff*

In all my dealings with you, as an anonymous forum personality, I suspect the kid won out in the awesome parent stakes.

Congratulations etc. There is only one bit of advice I ever give new parents: buy the most expensive nappies you can still afford.

Congratulations ;) I second copacetic's words.

Even though we are often painted with the same brush due to our professions, I must say you (and Fazda) come to the table with a wealth of information, and key viewpoints.

If I am ever President, consider the Department of Transport yours ;)

Congratulations.

I know that nerve feeling all to well, Worst for me was while changing into theatre clothes just before my daughter was born. Luckily the Endorphins had kicked in by the time I got in there or I may have fainted from the excitement and rush.

Anyway, See you on the other side and don't over think it, just enjoy :)

It is with a fair amount of regret that I'm unable to dish out compliments about your persona sir....for obvious reasons, however, congratulations on a job well done. The fruit of your loins will be revealed in all its splendor tomorrow then. I sincerely hope and wish this to be a most enjoyable experience for you and the mother of this little unknown great potential..

I'll leave you with this little glimpse of the future :p

In 1900, when fathers entered the room, children often rose to attention.
Today, kids glance up and grunt, "Dad, you're invading my space."

But still we will live and die for them.

<Insert joke about haptic feedback here>

Congratulations. I wish you and your wife everything of the best. It's not easy and/or cheap raising kids these days but I'm pretty sure you'll be okay.

Best of luck and wishes.
