I believe software and movie piracy is rife in SA and I would like to know all of your thoughts on the matter. I am completely against it, but that's just my opinion.

Your question is sure to illicit a major thread derail. It's a sensitive topic that's been discussed ad nauseam on MyBB before.

Personally I don't mind piracy, technology will force the sellers to come up with a better sales model - it simply is a fight they won't win as things stand at the moment. Change or die. Having said that I don't necessarily intellectually condone piracy, but I haven't yet properly formulated a reason why, other than it feels wrong. /shrugs

There are many criminals on this forum that believe it is their right to pirate. Some bull**** excuse about greed and costing too much. They have often been shown the error of their ways but they keep on stealing movies/music/software.

I don't pirate but I defend piracy (freedom of data and information, et al). I'm also 100% against DRM.

Not entirely interested in getting into this debate again, so that's where I'm leaving it :)

If you are doing research then look for threads on this topic... there have been many..

This topic has been discussed at length already.

Id you are interested in a discussion then also read those threads first.

There's nothing quite as invigorating as reading an individual's self-righteous one-dimensional understanding of a subject that is pretty much drowning in shades of grey.

If we had someone to oppose ufis, then perhaps we could nominate a bookie...

I reckon 1:2 odds in favour of ufis. Unless the opponent is from the lulz brigade, then its 2:1 against. ;)
