Software pirate caught in sting operation

stupid

“Mr. Li had been distributing pamphlets on campus offering Q Book computers for sale with software already loaded,” said Charl Everton, the anti-piracy manager at Microsoft South Africa.

Publicly advertising pirate goods? He deserved that one.

What a waste of police time and resources.

Articles like this piss me off. A student is selling preloaded systems? Say it aint so!!!

Lame X 10000000000000

I bet the officer got a hard on for actually making an arrest... even if it was just a student.

This dude obivously was not doing to good in his piracy business, if he had no fixed address and was living at his work place. Big Well Done to the Anti-Piracy chaps, they stopped what? a R100K a year hole max ? Wait, it's called making an example, I see, Lets really get stupid, now they put him in jail, he gets raped and gets aids and dies, Justice is fair.

Did they catch him on his ship, with an eye patch on?

He could have ran but i guess he didnt want to leave his parrot.

Oh and "ARRRRRRRR!"

Yip big idiot. If only he knew that Ubuntu Linux is free and comes with Open Office which is as good an Microsoft Office (its free, so don't complain). He could have have a viable business going, but he chose Vista. He should be given another 10 years for choosing Vista and his choice of piracy. ;-)

Piracy Fail.

They cannot catch the real criminals, cos' they are on the same team thus they concentrate on the soft targets to look busy and effective.

I wonder how many software counterfeits are imported a month, now if only they would spend some time on that issue.........

I must agree, if there is one MS product that you shouldn't pirate it is Vista, Microsoft couldn't pay me to use it, let alone give it away for free. It just isn't worth the bandwidth.

yeah, forget the rapists and the murderers, get a software pirate!!!!

I assume he wasn't selling the actual software, just preloading VLK versions. So doubt he was part of anything close to a syndicate.

Comes to think of it, why exactly did this make the news? Should we not be concentrating more on the R6.5m spent on the Durban website? Personally I would like a live feed regarding that.
