Greetings All,

So let me try out the clever brains here at MyBB.

I am looking for software to help create a network map. So far I have tried a couple of freeware ones and the one that stands out is the TheDude but I dont like the layout it uses.

Then I tried Solarwinds LanSurveyor and that blew my socks off both in price and functionality. It drew the map brilliantly all broken up into which router each machine is connected to and what port on said router but the price is a bit scary. The basic starts at $499 and works its way up.

So my question to you lot, what else can you recommend for me to try? I have a few other lined up to try but so far nothing seems to be LanSurveyor.

Many Thanks!

I've found that most visual network mapping tools cost a fortune, and I haven't found anything open source that could do the trick. A nifty piece of software is LanState Pro, it does a very nice job of mapping out a network, and can export that to Visio for later use.
