lol...Personally I been happy with ABSA since I was a student banking at United Bank and now enjoying my private banking with them. My 1st bond was with Saambou and that ended in disaster. FNB took over and their service sucked. All my accounts are with ABSA except vehicle finance. BMW offers better interest rates and service.

Grab your sticks everyone,we have a winner!
:D

Either works for me. And it should be good enough for anyone else wanting to actually save money, rather than paying a king's ransom every time you want access to it.

Same here, left Absa about a month ago for FNB, have not looked back yet.. back charges was usually around R350 pm at Absa, and im studend that does lot of internet banking.. now I pay R69 pm unlimited transactions at FNB.. Absa bunch of bloodsuckers, after 15 years of service they charged met R123 extra to close it so by the way..

So what exactly is their reason for leaving... opposed to change or high bank charges. They appear at pains trying to justify this move, the bank charges thing was thrown in at the last minute to rationalise things.

+1

This is a purely political move. But I think someone should let Solidarity know that FNB and Nedbank have transformation agendas as well?

:D

:D I been with them since apartheid days lol....whenever I need service, a pretty lady from ABSA delivers/collects from my office.

So dissapointed in myself... The perverted thoughts that just went through my mind, *SMH*

Ha ha ha - to everyone thinking that by leaving Absa, the grass will be greener on the otherside.

I bank with all 4; and while they all suck in general; the best strategy is to jam-jar...

Actually totally disagree, it has everything to do with it. Honestly, do you guys just look around trying to find "off topic" posts to point them out and up your post count? This post of mine is as useless to this thread as yours...I'm ashamed.

Heh ... dude your sarcasm-meter is broken.

Also one of the hordes of people that left Absa for FNB, and am very happy with the move. Saving R250+ in banking charges every month, can open accounts easily on my free internet banking. Absa can suck it.

Why is it on every forum I hear that people move to FNB (and some to Capitect) and never to the other banks?

Seems I must make like a Lemming and get my ass into gear and actually kick Standard Bank in its nuts as I've threatning for over a year.

I wonder what he (Kallie Kriel) drives, probably a Toyota Hilux or a VW Polo.....:erm:
Damn nice car.. but yes... what has it got to do with the topic ?

Yeah, posts about disliking and leaving ABSA are clearly totally off-topic in a thread about a major organisation disliking and leaving ABSA.
Really? Guess we are not all fans of ABSA then

How's about an option on the poll: I've already left ABSA. Please?

You had to pay to get it closed?
Good thing that as I worked for them a few years ago, I knew that after 3 or more months they'd automatically close mine ;)
At no cost to me. Fsck 'em!

I left ABSA in the beginning of this year or very late last year and I am also saving between R300 - R400/m on charges. After 30 transactions (checking balances, logging into internet banking, drawing money, swiping my card) I was being charged R10/transaction, that was on top of the R150 I paid for "all inclusive" bank charges.

They are Sharks when it comes to bank charges. I moved to FNB and I am much happier with their charges.

Another stupid poll:mad:
The stupid just perpetuates the thread derail where everyone doesn't address Solidarity rather takes the opportunity to rage against the bank. Why not start a poll & thread(s) elsewhere asking about all the other banks?

You must have a lot at stake at the Bank that United, Volkskas and Allied built.

The stupid? Yeah gonna let that slide and not get into it now.
What is there to address wrt to Solidarity in this regard. They have and are being discussed in this thread.
It would seem the majority of responses here are in support and validate this move to have them move away from ABSA.

So? Discuss Solidarity! We 're waiting!

+1 What was the agenda of the person who set it up? Would the mod own up?

A smart one?

No prizes for guessing there;)

Solidarity made a political decision which they're trying to cover up with inane excuses. Unless those posting are members of Solidarity then I don't see how they closing their accounts has anything to do with the price of eggs.
