Some tips would be nice for reducing body fat

I wasn't responding to that " eaten fat and the body stored fat is different" though.

I was responding to your claim that FAT causes FAT, and "He is trying to lose the FAT in his body so why the hell would he put FAT into his body (whether it be in the form of carbohydrates or fat)?"

ok, well both those articles are about losing weight and not about losing body fat%

he wants to lose body fat %

Yes carbohydrates get converted into fat (when taken in excess) and yes some people lose weight when they go on banting because they cut out on one of the evils of weight gain.

I cannot see how it be logical to just advise the OP to do banting to lose body fat% when what he is trying to lose, he will be putting into his body.

As has been advised to him from some of the other posters he needs to find out what his calorie output is and then change his dietary requirements to fit in and eat cleanly.

Its like that statement "that fat doesn't make you fat, sugar does" well by that logic we should also be saying "fat doesn't make you fat, proteins make you fat" since excessive proteins also convert to fat.

anything put into the human body in excess will convert to fat, since fat is the storage unit for the body.

At the risk of oversimplifying your question:

Eaten fat is what goes into your mouth. It doesn't necessarily end up stored anywhere on your body. Stored fat is what's on your body. It may have entered your mouth as carbs, and been converted to fat.

If you think you can't get fat on a carbs only diet, drink 6 litres of coke a day and then report back.

And a personal anecdote: I eat 100g of fat a day (more than half my calories) and have pretty low body fat.

I never said that carbs only diet is the way to go,

hell I strictly limit the amount of carbohydrates I put in my body on a daily basis (as well as fats) but I do consume both of them.

I also am not saying that he mustn't eat fats, he just needs to work out what his body requirements per day is and consume less than that, so the body goes into ketosis.

In my view point, telling him to do Banting when wanting to lose body fat, is not the answer

It's not just eating fat on it's own though, it's eating fat while simultaneously avoiding carbs. If your body can't burn carbs for energy it starts to burn up the fat, both stored fat and eaten fat.

both muscle and fat.

As long as he is getting enough protein and doing some sort of resistance training, which it seems he is doing, he will not lose any noticeable muscle. Hell he might even gain some muscle due to being a beginner.

I'll look up the studies tonight. Heading home.

yes but if he is consuming more fat than what his body needs then it will never get into Ketosis, It will not even need to get to his current stored fats.

do people on Banting monitor how much fat they are consuming?

thanks will be interesting to see

If I am wrong then I am wrong but I cannot currently see how Banting would help in dropping body fat%

Obviously you have to be sensible but if you're going to eat a lot, rather eat more fat and cut out the carbs, than eat more carbs and cut out the fat

you cannot over it on fat. it makes you full much quicker than carbs.

11- months banting lost 15kg. no exersise what so-ever.

i am a born couch potato, banting works,
:)

So i reached my goals after a year going from 97kg to 76kg :)

Now i'm reducing my cardio by 60% and slight bulking now.

So my off days when i don't gym i jog for 2-3kms

Gym days i start off with 4min jogging and rest in-between next workout is under 1min.

Now i want to start getting my body fat down to see more definition ?any tips what i could do or add to help this goal.

I only use a whey protein after gym.
1) You had a winning formula. Stick to it. Don't reduce your cardio if it was helping you lose weight. Google EPOC
2) It is difficult to balance bulking with fat loss. Rather do them one at a time.
3) Add CLA to your diet. Take it religiously and you should see lower body fat after 2 months or so.

Edit: Well done! That's a very impressive result actually. Just keep focused and remember that diet is the most important aspect of fat loss.

So here is one study. Sufficient protein intake and resistance training on calorie deficit leads to negligible muscle loss.

http://www.cbc.ca/beta/news/canada/...gain-muscle-fast-new-mcmaster-study-1.3423359

McMaster University study: 40% calorie deficit over six weeks of intense training results in negligible lean muscle loss.

Two groups were compared:

The high protein group (2.4 g/kg) gained 2 lb of muscle and lost 10 lb of body fat.

The low protein group (1.2 g/kg) lost negligible muscle and lost ~7.7 lb of body fat.

Diet smi-et, Banting smanting. Eat what you like but don't eat alot. Eat till the the hunger subsides and you're comfortable then stop. Run, ride, have fun if you want to maintain. Run, ride have fun more if you want to lose.

Eat what you want means food not junk. Junk stays in the trash you're not a racoon.
No alcohol ever

Funny thread. We shouldn't eat fat? This forum has endless amounts of good advise. :crylaugh:

Eat less. Move more. Easy peasy. This biggest thing holding people back is their mind. Dropping weight is easy once you have the right mindset.
