Someone gave xrapidx a 40D

How safe do you think it'll be ordering the 50mm 1.8 lens off ebay? Considering the only place with stock is incredible corruption at R1,500.

How many people here are looking to buy a 50mm f/1.8 right now (Nikon or Canon)?

If it's enough I might just make a trip out of it :)

Considering how much I use mine I'm considering the 50mm f/1.4 . . .

I'm more likely to go for the 24mm f/1.4 - don't use the 50mm near often enough - but that's pretty far down my list.

Nice lens for a 35mm camera, loaded with slow film. Just imagine what it could do on a 5dmkii.

Well, there is that idea in the back of my head - I have a Canon film camera with some Velvia 50 in my bag, after all. But I'm more thinking of the 40D. 24mm is far more useful to me than 50mm on a crop camera.

Hmm - 86 photos at 24mm* this year vs 3186 at 50mm (2972 with the EF50mm f/1.8) . . . I'm leaning a little more towards a new 50mm :D

EDIT - to be fair, since I dont have a dedicated 24mm lens, between the ranges of 20 and 28mm I took 1416 shots.

the 50mm isnot ideal focal length on APS-c camera, and I sold a 50mm f1.8 I had. Lately I've been using a 50mm f1.4 and it's simply stunning, I wonder what a 24 or 35mm would do...

For what? It all depends on what you use if for and I've found plenty of uses.

Maybe I should pack it away for a month and force myself to shoot recreationally with that 16-35mm I spent so much money on. It's just that I find the range so impersonal and boring. :o

what about orms and sacamera?

Out of stock - I've tried all the online retailers and stores in the area. They say Canon isn't bringing in new stock until next year some time when the rand stabilizes.

I am - I think mercurial is... not sure who else. I don't mind ordering of ebay, I get a lot from ebay :) just think a lens could be risky :)

Do some research - if there have been QC issues on that lens then dont - returning duds from here will be troublesome.

You also have to remember that this is customs busy season so it could easily get stuck in a backlog. They recently had my repaired Xbox sitting at JNB for more than 2 weeks.

Yeh - I've been quite lucky two things I ordered last week monday arrived yesterday, one through customs.

BTW - you always online? :p

How do you get a breakdown of information like this in Aperture?

The 35mm f/2 is to more more like a 50mm on my film body - nice all round. I find the 50mm on the crop body far too narrow for being the only lens, if I have to make do with only one prime.
