For some obscure reason my GPU Idles at full clock speed, now ive had this issue before were it was one of them bitcoin miner viruses which I removed easily but I cant seem to find one now.

Ive tried a MAM and an Avast full scan and both found nothing. But the strange thing is it doesnt lag my games suggesting it isnt using the GPU but something is causing it to ramp up like Intels Speedstep technology.

This is how it should be:

But it jumps to this often:

Is it possible for image websites like 9gag could cause something like this?

Thanks.

Looking at your specs, that shouldn't be happening. Try using that card in another machine and do the same thing. Also try a different card in your machine to check.

Some browsers including Chrome do use the gpu to speed up rendering.

Trace where you got the virus and study what the virus is and left behind.

Many times a virus can be stored on separate storage. It can also be a two parter one mining bc and another lc and you could have just removed both.

Once i unticked "Use hardware acceleration when available" in chome it stays at 50mhZ, but why didnt i notice this before?
