I've never worn glasses but last couple of months I've been struggling with my eyes. Specially when looking at LCD or Display and Text. So went to the optometrist who took forever to do tests and got glasses. The magnification is very little, something like 0.25 in one eye and 0.50 in the other. Felt like it made it worse. Took it back and they made some minor adjustments. But now adws I type this the text on the screen is not clear. Looks like the font has two over each other with a slight offset. The optometrist probably spent close to 2 hours to figure out what the issue is but still something is not right. I'm not actually sure if the glasses are making it better or worse.

Don't know how to explain this. Probably something like this:

Maybe go closer or further back from the screen? Your glasses are meant to work at a certain distance eg. 45 cm or something. Also usually a day or so to get used to the lenses. Otherwise your optometrist has stuffed up. You can also go to Dischem or Clicks where they sell generic reading spectacles to test if they may work better.

First time it would take a while to adjust but it shouldn’t look out of focus.

It sounds like you may have got astigmatism and someone didn’t do the pupil alignment OR you aren’t wearing them correctly to the pupil alignment.

But also stop ****ing using dark mode…and if you absolutely have to only at night when it’s actually DARK.

You are just ****ing up your eyes, there is no positive scientific backing for dark mode…only negative.

yeah makes no difference. If I am like 10cm away it looks a bit better

One of your corneas has a slightly less ability to focus.
This is normally the case as you get older

The pertinent comment is "slight double image in one eye"

You need to return to the optometrist and get retested. It's the shape of the lens that should be altered, not the magnification

Get a better optometrist.

Well that is the other option. He mentioned he could change the shape but I won't be able to then see without the glasses after a while. But yeah, I might have to consider that then.

/Negative Nancy mode on

Once you hit the big 4-0 your eyes start taking a beating & you have to take more frequent wee breaks in the night :crying: :cautious:

YMMV

Yeah it came out of nowhere. There was this random little fluffy dog that came running to me while I was walking my fluffy dog. And it just followed us. The cutest thing. I got down to check the number on the name tag. Was late afternoon. I couldn't read the freaking number! I realise right there that I need to get glasses.   Only really started noticing it this year.

Over-the-counter glasses cannot correct astigmatism. Your prescription must include CYL (cylinder) and Axis values to correct the specific irregular shape of your eye

May be the astigmatism ie Cylinder/axis needs adjustment. I would try another well reviewed optometrist for a second opinion. Few have got mine wrong slightly with the resulting glasses being extremely uncomfortable.

3 hours means nothing if the guy is incompetent.
