Something odd regarding domains.co.za

I got an odd SMS now from the number which domains.co.za usually sends me messages on, it offers low interest loan and suggests that I contact 0634865843 or [email protected] for more information.

So, is there any reason why i'd be getting loan offers from the domains.co.za contact number?

Kinda makes me think that their customer contact details and messaging system has been hijacked by some nefarious party :/

Unless you pay for dedicated numbers your number isn't just yours,many SMS Gateways are shared

I got a car advert,a one time token for a site and some service notifications from 1 number today

Sure but it seems that they have this number as it's been used by them for more than a year now to send me messages. If the number was not dedicated how could the operator get my contact details in order to message me regarding their amazing loan offer? :s

I've seen some of the FNB numbers also relay the odd spammy SMS,never assume
Just because the majority is provider X for _you_ doesn't mean it's theirs only

Fair enough, I just think it's a decent assumption in this case being that every communication that they have ever sent me has been through this number and not various different numbers, this is the first time ever that i've received a communication from this number which is not relative to them or at least seems not to be. That seems just a bit odd to me, anyways I guess I will give them a call and ask.

We use https://www.clickatell.com/ as our SMS gateway, so this could have come from anyone who uses the Clickatell system

Please can you PM your cell number so that I can get our Clickatell Account Manager to investigate this further

Lots of companies use Clickatell. For instance if I look at the number where I get Domains texts from then I also get from SCode, Telegram, Samsung, and a spam SMS from Harcourts.

Also completely off topic but I'm busy setting up a new Windows cloud server that I just paid for at Domains and it's so yummingly fast. I love it.
