SONA sex attack: DA MP found guilty

So, those stories about crazy DA orgies don't seem so far fetched now.

This is a pathetic slap on the wrist. I hope that the DA get's a good policy platform, as they don't have the moral high ground anymore.

Yes, this is true. Characters are drawn from the same population and their behaviour is going to be more or less the same.

It appears as though councillors and MP's can do what they like and the DA will still keep them on.
 
look, one twat doesn't represent a whole organisation/party, people shouldn't stop voting for a party becoz one member is involved in a scandal

Actually in the real world you don't. Had a work colleague that was sexually harassed by the manager and laid charges. He was demoted and had to give a formal apology but he wasn't fired. Companies that value a staff member will try to keep them even if they are sexual perverts/predators. Experienced it 1st-hand.

That's freaking sad. I would sue the company as they are then creating an unsafe work environment. And why didn't you coworker not lay charges of sexual assault?

It is an extremely difficult thing to prove as a criminal matter. Very much a he said she said. Only found out because she eventually confided in myself and another lady what was happening and that she was ill all the time trying to avoid the guy and never be alone with him. She eventually got the courage to take it to his seniors - apparently he admitted what he'd been doing. She was hoping they'd at least move him to another department but they just kept him there with a lower title. Well at least he did become timid after that cause he knew we knew. But fire him - lol - whether you want to believe it or not - a lot of people still think sexual harassment isn't serious.
 
Dude should be fired, don't need people like him in any kind of power.

I noticed that in South Africa. I heard rumors in my last company of sexual harassment but I don't know what came of it. I didn't notice any one disappear

There have been quite a few scandals and accompanying denials. Look up the Toko councillor who is still working after serious fraud allegations.

LOL, yeah. You missed the point completely. Its not about the bad apple. Its about how he got off with a slap on the wrist instead of the party practicing what it preaches to other parties.
 
Let's be clear here... if this had been a criminal trial, the dude would have most likely gotten a slap on the wrist as well.
He didn't rape anybody and there wasn't any physical contact.
He would have most likely got a fine and a suspended sentence.
Do you guys understand the difference between an act of sexual harrassment and an actual rape?
I'm not excusing what he did, and he seems like a despicable person, but let's be realistic about the charge and the sentence.

So because the courts would've given him a slap on the wrist, the most self righteous party in the country is correct in doing the same?

Does the ANC with their corruption and Zuma's criminal tendencies have it now? One DA MP farked up and now the DA is rotten? At least he did not rape anyone and manipulated and corrupted the law system in in South Africa do get out of jail free ... did he?
