Hi Guys,

I have a bit of a situation, my client has a router connecting to his sonicwall and themn from sonicwall to server.

So the problem I am facing is diverting a RDP(3389) port to the server so he can connect via a dyndns acc remotely.

The setup looks like this

Cloud(Public IP)--->Router(192.168.0.1)--->WAN-Sonicwall(192.168.0.2)--->Lan-Sonicwall(192.168.1.254)----->Server(192.168.1.1)

Does anyone know howto get RDP traffic to move over the 0.x range to the 0.1 range IP?

TIA,

Open up port 3389 on your public ip (external interface) and forward to 192.168.0.2. (Portforward)

Then open up port 3389 on your sonic wall external interface, one with 192.168.0.2 and forward it to 192.168.1.1

Never touched a sonicwall before but all firewalls work the same...

You need to forward i twice, unless you have your router setup with a DMZ ip and you specified your sonic wall's external IP as the DMZ address where all requests are forwarded to, then you only need to do it on the sonicwall

Thanks for your prompt reply. That was my first thought and i tries that. But still no luck. Another techie said that I cannot do a double hop cause of the way traffic is translated from wan to lan. What he suggested is getting a plain dsl modem. Nothing fancy.

Nat inbound 3389 on the router, handle the rest with routing. You are not doing nat between the sonicwall and the lan. You will need an acl entry on the sonicwall to permit any traffic from ip 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.1 destination port 3389.

Thanks, Can you tell me howto NAT only 3389 on the router? Its a netgear dgn2200. Only thing I can see is to sellect only either secure NAT or OPen Nat under wan settings.

Just a quick update and Thanks to Shawnstar and Dabouncer. I managed to get it working with your reply's. Hope in the near future that this thread will help someone in the same situation.
