Cannot sync at speeds higher than about 2Mbps even with higher speed access (eg 4/10Mbps). Thus paying for service that we cannot use. Matter taken up with Telkom about 2 years ago and was told that it is due to us being more than 3km away from exchange and the old/outdated "distribution boxes". Although Durbanville was advertised as the Cape Town trial for 20/40 Mbps this was only rolled out in one or two of the newest areas and we have not seen any improvement. Enquiries to Telkom about when the equipment in our area will be updated just gets answer "we do not know".
